    Default Bugs.

Is this a silly question? Probably..

Will there be mozzies ? Should I pack some insect repellant ? Or will I be be bite free ?

I just read something about bee's being in the sahara tent and it made me think of this. I hate getting bitten

    Sheri.
...and all these wonderful things will add up to some powerful experience that 10 years from now you’ll say, “Wow, we LIVED!"

i haven't had had any problems with mosquitos/bugs in the past, don't think anyone i've gone with has mentioned anything like that either.

It's the desert, so there will probably not be too many mosquitoes. I have no idea about bees, although I've heard recently that large amounts of bees are mysteriously disappearing (not sure if that is local to me in Arizona or worldwide). I don't think bugs will be a problem. I've never had a problem with bugs at Coachella.

don't remember any mosquitoes the last few years...if there are for some reason hopefully it will be breezy to keep them out of the air.

Probably the only insects we have in large quantities are ants, palmetto bugs (large roaches) & those tiny gnats that come out especially at sun-down. Golf course lakes get occasional mosquitoes. Once I saw what looked like a huge cockroach in my condo...it was a bug that lives in palm trees - the size of a large mouse. I wouldn't bother with bug spray, but I would consider sunblock.

During 2005 there was a small invasion of Bees but in my 6 years that is all I have seen. During MIA IN 05 they decided to start hanging around her tent, maybe they liked her too.

Wow, you are all such a bunch of liars, no bugs! Pah! Sheri, seriously, these are the bugs I found in my tent last year (the ones that were small enough to get in my tent that is).

Remember people. The more garbage you leave on the ground during day 1. There will be that many more bugs day 2. Don't throw food on the ground, please.

Please be exaggerating. I just looked up a picture of a palmetto bug and almost vomitted. Do I need to line the edges of my tent with Borax?

I don't think there should be a mosquito problem -- mosquitos like moisture, seems incompatible with desert.

If you're staying anywhere near a lake, pond, waterfall, rain-soaked columns of tires, you'll prolly see mosquitos. And there's ginormous moths at night. Destroy Tokyo moths.

But it's the gnarly 6-inch cockroaches and palmetto bugs that freak me out. With their unnaturally long legs and antenna, jesus! And when they take to the air, YOU CAN HEAR THEIR WINGS FLAPPING.

    I'm bringing a tennis racket.

During MIA there was a huge swarm of bees that flew out from the tent and everyone started running and I was scared.

    ... ugh.

Please be joking. I am such a girl when it comes to bugs... and if I see a giant cockroach-like creature, I may just run away screaming and flailing like an idiot! For real- I found a cockroach in my hotel one time and I left & made them give my money back.
Try not to let your mind wander... It's too small and fragile to be out on its own...
