Re: Heineken Dome, I wonder if they could swap and put the ferris wheel back where it used to be. Seems like that would be a reasonable solution.

    Good
-Getting through the security check only took a few minutes
-Parking lot attendants this year knew how to do their jobs
    -The wooden ADA path
    -The cat merch
    -This year's art
-The large shade structure in the Terrace
-The addition of the Yuma and it's general look. Loved the couches!
-The screens directing people out of the festival and warning about the high winds
-Not much dust in the air during the walk back to parking, so the path must have been watered well
-Having separate exits for lots 14 and 15, made getting out smoother

    Bad
-Worse disorganization than normal on day 1. There were no signs for the entrance to day parking, the lots opened an hour late, and one of the gates at the main entrance had been left open for anyone to walk in
-Airconditioned bathrooms being locked when I got in at the beginning of day 1 and 2
-Having scannable tags and printing out receipts at the merch booth seemed to make the purchase process take way longer, compared to before when you could hand over exact change, grab your stuff and leave
-Having DJs and shitty local bands open most of the stages early in the day
-The low capacity of the Yuma, and the placement of the resulting line so that it intersected with the food lines
-The sound at the main stage if you weren't in the front area
-The gigantic sections for those with special wristbands. Only the one at the main stage ever seemed to have more than a few people in it
-The arrangement of the barricades at the main stage made it nearly impossible to leave from the front right area once it got crowded, since you could only enter or leave from one direction, and I think it was bad enough to be considered a safety hazard. A bunch of people had to get pulled over the barricade by security after the end of one set because there was no other way for them to get out
-The grass at the end of day 2 looking like it did last year at the end of weekend 2
-If it's a safety hazard to put our bags on the step behind the barricade, then why are people allowed to sit on them?
-Staff at the mainstage spraying people with water on Sunday during Violent Femmes. I understand the purpose of this when it's actually hot, but it barely got above 80 that day, so it ended up giving me chills. Also, as someone who's basically blind without their glasses, I don't appreciate having to take my attention away from an awesome set every few minutes to dry my glasses off just so I can see the set I'm in the front row for
-Sound bleed from the main, outdoor, and Do Lab in the Gobi
-The sand dunes we had to walk on to get to lot 14E

You have never been allowed to bring food inside. It's always luck of the draw whether you get a security guard who cares or not. The issue is that they want you to spend money on food in the venue. That's it. In the 4 years I have been i have typically been able to get some snacks in 2/3 days as well.

Okay by fucking definition sure there is a capacity. The point I'm trying to make is that there is no restraints to see/hear a set at any other Coachella stage. The Yuma is too small and exclusive to host that many billed acts, and should be changed for next year.

    THE FORGIVABLE:
    - I totally get the Yuma capacity. This was the first year for the Yuma, and the last time they created a new electronic stage with the Oasis Dome in 2011 there were times when only about 10 people showed up for acts. It was embarrassing for both the artists and the festival, so I can see why they would err on the smaller size this time around. I have no doubt that they will readjust the size now that they more accurately understand the demand for it.

    THE GOOD:
    - In my opinion, the best art I've ever seen at the festival. Beautiful, bizarre, mobile, interactive, so much interesting stuff to see and do during the day.
    - The new Sahara is a gorgeous and exciting structure, even though I spent no time in there outside of Prydz.
    - Crowd was much friendlier than last year, every show I went to was full of fun and pleasant people.
    - Last year when my bracelet scanned red accidentally they sent me outside of the festival to fix it, and thus I had to wait in line again to get in. This time, they actually had somebody inside with a reactivation code on their phone, fixing in less than 30 seconds what took 20+ minutes the year prior. Nice little touch.
    - Just a fantastic lineup top to bottom. Last year's was top heavy, whereas there were options I was excited about all day. It just seemed way more diverse and curated than last year's.

    THE BAD:
    - Entrance Friday afternoon to the festival grounds, but they fixed that almost immediately.
    - Outdoor theater, as always, had sound issues. Maybe this is the next stage to get an overhaul.

Many festivals have this kind of a thing. Primavera in Barcelona has a seated theater with limited capacity that they put very highly-anticipated acts like Portishead, Sufjan Stevens, and Jeff Mangum in. Deal with it. I promise you won't die.

yeah, that seems like a terrible misfire. in the campgrounds maybe it makes sense - fewer women camp overall than men - but in the venue it should probably be a 60/40 mix.

I really don't give a fuck what Primavera or "many festivals" do, they should increase the size of the dome or make it open like a few years ago.

    GOOD:

    - Improved cell phone reception
    - Bathrooms segregated by sex

    BAD:

    - THE DO LAB - too loud, too much bleed. Can we please have this in the campground or maybe move it to where the dome used to be by the entrance? Or even have it turn the sound down and not play at night would be a fair compromise.
    - Douche Totems - the "we are here" sticks have got to go.

You don't always get what you want. They're experimenting with new things. There are always kinks. You don't like it, go to another stage, it's not a huge deal.

I'm speaking my grievances in the grievances thread, get off my back. It's an issue that should be made better for next year. I don't need you guys telling me to go to another stage or just get over it.. I did just go to another stage, nor did it ruin my weekend...

Yeah, I was there too. Waited for freaking ever and they didn't open any new ares for entrances.

I disagree that separating the bathrooms was a good idea. the lines at most of the restrooms were terrible most of the times I needed them. if the justification was the incident at stagecoach it really doesn't makes sense considering the bathrooms were already segregated there (weren't they?).

    The good:
-artwork looked very good, and it was nice to see the tesla coils return
-the lineup. even in the earliest hours there was something essential I had to see every day.
-never had to wait more than 5 minutes for unlimited, free water
-I only ate crab fries, but there seemed to be a lot of amazing, delicious food. like the lineup, something for everyone.
-some awesome security staff member made sure I didn't die on Saturday.
-Yuma looked really cool inside with the lights and such. also helped kept some of the assholes away, I'm sure.
-Signs to indicate where to go and the color coded paths really helped.
-Wooden support for trash and recycling bins were a great idea, especially considering Sunday's windstorm.
    -random acts of kindness
-ignoring bleed from neighboring sets, the sound quality from each stage was crystal clear once sets got rolling
-the webcast. nearly all of my must-sees were on the schedule, so I have loads of pro-shot video recordings to download as keepsakes.

    The bad:
    -delays
-baffling scheduling. Enough has been posted about Saturday night, but what did Bat for Lashes or her fans ever do to anyone to deserve the cruel punishment of being scheduled between 2 Chainz and Major Lazer? Also, 2 Chainz should have been on the main and Major Lazer in the Sahara, since those 10 seconds of "Pon de Floor" been dropped there God knows how many times and gave Afrojack something to base an entire career on. 2 Chainz is the only time at a festival where I got so overheated that I barfed.
-fully expected a repeat of Roskilde or Love Parade at 2 Chainz. If it's popular among braces-clad yolo swagsters, it's too big to be in the Gobi or Mojave.
    -bros bros bros bros bros
-lot 1. No grass, just mud and horse patties. And it's a 2.6 mile walk each way to get inside, which involves three wristband scans and two full security patdowns. Had to dump my water and endure the second half of the trip inside completely parched. On the way back on Sunday night there was that dust storm blowing in our faces.
-the best place to watch a set at the main stage is up front and on the left side. maybe they started doing this in 2011 or 2012, but this area is now barricaded and you have to have a special wristband in order to get in (buy a Safari tent, be a D-list celebrity or mooch off an artist/promoter/sponsor)
    -the do lab

    The Good:
    - Yuma was fucking awesome!
    - Dodgeball in the campgrounds was fun.
    - The Sahara looked great.
    - Phoenix's set.
    - The art was great!
    - Never really ran into any rude people this year personally. Friendliness prevailed.
    - Cell reception was better.
    - Not as many people were taking pictures from their phones this year.

    The Bad:
    - The sound crew at all stages.
    - Saw about 4 fights happen (or almost happen) during the weekend. Come on people, leave that shit outside of Coachella.
    - Moar beer selections pls.
    - Even with the diminished amount of crap EDM, still 2ManyBros.

    The Ugly:

    - The Do Lab. Either lower the volume, move it somewhere else, or just get rid of it completely. So annoying.

i have never been in such a small confined space at any stage, or in my life for that fact than trying to enter the beer gardens. Specifically the beer garden by the outdoor stage before wu tang started. Was surrounded shoulder to shoulder with people being pushed into the side of the barricade for 10 minutes.

on the bright side cell reception was the best it's ever been, loved the art, clean bathrooms, and the shuttles were fast and clean (although a girl did puke on my bus on the way to coachella on day 1).

+ AT&T reception was great all weekend.
    + Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoon weather was near-perfect
+ all of the music and art, really

    - Entrances to the beer gardens (VIP and Outdoor) often seemed to have major issues, maybe because they reduced the number of entrances and exits (and didn't have super-visable signage).
    - DUSTBOWL/TERRORWIND
    - Phoenix/New Order/Sigur Ros at the exact same time.

Man I hear this one. I was moving into the tent right after 2 Chainz finished so I could see Bat For Lashes and it was like an impenetrable wall of bros. Eventually the fact that the music had stopped managed to travel through their primitive neural pathways and they cleared out but trying to fight my way through that sucked. The scheduling this year was really really odd in some places, I think drugs were involved in it's making. Possibly even ILLEGAL drugs!

    Pros:

Parking was excelent this year. Very quick in/out every day.
The colored paths to/from were great. This needs to stay moving forward.
Getting in/out was great this year. The lines were never more than 5 minutes to get in.

    Cons:

Yuma was a fail. The line to get in was at least a 100 deep almost every time I walked over there. I dont want to spend an hour waiting to get into a room.
Beer gardens were a fail by the Sahara. The lines to get in at some points took 10-15 minutes. Having 5 people pull on my wristband is a bit excessive.
It felt WAY more crowded this year. The Sahara was a lot bigger but it felt as packed as always. When will they learn that EDM is massive now and needs its own outdoor stage.

Overall though it was another successful coachella. I think I had more fun the last two years but that doesnt mean this year was bad. Coachella always does a lot of things right that other festivals get wrong and thats why I always come back every year.

    Pros:

    -Great cell reception
    -Beer gardens weren't too crowded
    -NEWCASTLE HORRAY
    -Sets starting/ending on time
    -LOT FUCKING 8 CAMPING
    -Less douchebags this year
-Charging station was rarely too crowded
    -Not many conflicts
    -Segregated bathrooms
    -Lots of shade
-Lots of places to sit and eat in the shade
-Almost no lines for water refill stations

    Cons:

-The line to get into car camping took 2 and a half hours
    -BLUR PLAYING BEFORE STONE ROSES
-Women searching men during security checkpoint
-The line to get into Yuma was a clusterfuck until they added the gate. And it was still a clusterfuck.
-They only had like 8 people searching on Friday afternoon and it took over an hour to get inside.
-Them moving the snail on Saturday so we couldn't get the group photo we wanted
    -The Do Lab's sound bleed.
-The wind and dust on sunday (I know, couldn't be helped. Still sucked though)

I have been to every Coachella so of course I Think it is great overall and I like the seperate bathrooms-much cleaner this year!
I did not like the double security check from the shuttles-seems like we are punished for riding a shuttle(which I love-have done it since they first started) .And waiting 2 hours to get in on Friday was torture! The beer tent lines were so long I did not bother! And ban those signs and blow up things so people can find their friends-while blocking my view! We are a family group very year-this year 5 of us- and have no trouble meeting up-it is not rocket science! but don't block my view!

    -BLUR PLAYING BEFORE STONE ROSES
This was a pro. Blur conflicting with how to destroy angels would suck.
