You guys sure do bitch a lot. I was in Lot 4 and it was just fine. Bring a camping shower and you won't have to go to the showers, stop being such a little bitch and the ground pricklys won't bother you.
So you don't get to go back to camp during the day, you're there for the music aren't you?
I sandbagged my tent down long before the windstorm and I was just fine, put up a 4th tarp on my tent and slept like a dead baby.
You're camping, this isn't a 5 star hotel. If you want more comfort pay for the safari tents.
Its like the Infinite Monkey Theorem, if you put X amount of monkeys in a room with a typewriter and ask them to give you Shakespeare 99% of them will fling their shit at you while the other 1% will masturbate in the corner.
Also I feel as though a "I survived lot 4" t-shirt would have been a welcome addition to people exiting monday morning.

God damn it Amy.
Is everything you say sig worthy?
We were sent to Lot 4 and refused to camp there. Didn't even get out of the vehicle.
Told the parking attendant that we would rather leave and go back through the two hour security check than to camp in that lot. So they started escorting us out, then at the last moment, one of the guys pulls the barricades from a service road and sends us down there, leading to Lot 8. Ended up in a perfect spot.
The only reason they started sending people to Lot 4 was because they were not able to maintain a good flow of people into Lot 8. I overheard them on the radios talking about it. A failure on their part is not a reason for us to pay the price, especially since we arrived early.
yeah, I wish my group and I also decided to put our foot down, but at the time we didn't know that it was The Godforsaken Thorn-Infested Horse Patch that it turned out to be.
I was looking forward to attending Coachella 2014 as a tent camper but this thread has me scared! I'm the type of person that freaks out when I'm annoyed. I REALLY can't stand being annoyed! But tent camping is the only thing I can afford. Now, I'm rethinking it all.
even with the shitty lot 4 situation, I'd still camp. so don't let it discourage you. I'd prefer car camping over tent camping since the tent campers regularly seem to get the shortest end of the stick. it's really not much more expensive since it's per spot and not per person. find a friend or someone on the board to share your costs and do it up right.
camping is awesome. car camping, specifically.
I learned my lesson and left at 2am for weekend 2 and was the first car in line, also camped right up front. never leaving late again.
what time did you arrive for weekend 1? I don't think our arrival time (around 4?) mattered since lot 8 was still filling and lot 10 was just starting to fill. they just didn't allow us to merge into the main line after the group lot and forced us left instead of right. either way, it shouldn't be used for camping. even if they redo the lot, it's a bit too far away from anything.
i got there at about 430 on weekend 1 but we also had a huge group with us that consisted of about 11 cars. so i think that was also a big factor in getting lot 4 as well.
yeah, that's what happened to us too.
hopefully lessons were learned and no one else has to deal with it next year.
great news! When I first heard that they bought some more land I hoped that lot 4 was included. they should consider using it as quiet/family camping for next year since it's so far away from everything.
My group will go from usually getting in line around noon to being some of the first cars lined up. All to avoid any chance of lot 4.
I know people that arrived after we did that still wound up in lot 8, so I really don't think arrival time mattered as much. still, I'd like to try and get there earlier than we normally do, just in case, but with people in our group from the bay area, southern california, arizona and beyond it's tough to coordinate.
