    Default Pretty Lights

I didn't see 1 thread about him I searched post and title threads so sorry if this is a repeat.

    HOLY FUCK!

Such an amazing set once he dropped Mike Aaron and Eddy it became one of my fav. Coachella sets.

Really hoping a rip of the set comes out *crosses fingers*

Glad to hear he owned it on the Outdoor. I wouldn't expect anything less.

His music may be fun to dance to but there's no way his set can even be compared to some of the amazing live or DJ sets over the weekend. This guy is the definition of pressing play. He doesn't even attempt to mix his songs together. He just starts the new one when the last on ends. I don't understand how people don't notice this. There's zero flow between songs. Maybe I just put too much weighting on transitions but for me that's everything when it comes to dance music.

because 99.9999999998% of people are just there to partay and dont care about how amazing DJ Neverheardofhim's transitions are, even if they are better. not saying his set was amazing or anything more than the big dumb stupid dance party it was, but sometimes big dumb stupid dance parties can be quite fun (see also: DUBSTEP)

I appreciate Derek for his skill as a producer, his music translates so well on big sound that I can get past the lack of transitions. He does do some live edits and he always carries the energy for me when I've seen him live.

I don't know shit about EDM or transitions, I'm just not a huge fan of the genre, but I had an amazing time at this set. Maybe there's something to that "big dumb stupid dance party" being fun theory. If that's what this set was, call me a fan!

I'm assuming he brought his full light show if he wasn't stationed in Sahara?
Did he do the city skyline backdrop thing?

Great set! Sounded like shit from the beer gardens, but when I moved closer to the stage it sounded awesome. Pretty Lights into Wu-Tang into Prydz was such a fucking amazing night for me, even despite the storm. Great way to end Coachella.

No city skyline he had a new lighting rig with a fuck ton of intelligent lights and lasers.

It was def one big dance party! I had some fun at that set. I do however feel in recent years his sets have gotten less energetic and feel more chill/laid back hip hop style. My friends and I expected him to bring it just a little harder we also had a decenty spot by the soundbooth as well.

He was the perfect opener/warm up for Wu-Tang.

Would love to go weekend 2 and experience Pretty Lights into Wu Tang but I chose Hardwell > Excision > Prydz. I was really bummed to see the conflict of Hardwell and Pretty Lights when the set times were released. I hadn't seen either and have heard Pretty Lights is much better when given a 2-3 hour set, so I decided to wait til he comes back around the Philly area.

His setup really benefited from the sandstorm, it looked totally insane.

Yeah, I thought my pictures would look great. Unfortunately, everything just looked great at the time. lol

I had seen him once before when he had the drummer, and wasn't too big of a fan. As a hip hop head I really like his current sound, I got the fuck down for this whole set. He does creep me out as a person though, he looks like a fucking weirdo.

He's pretty artsy and different, his personality definitely shows from that. He has a documentary coming out that is like 2+ years in the making I'm really looking forward to that.

my friends were sooo stoked on his set . While he couldn't mix two records together to save his life, he played all his best tracks and a few new ones as well. That combined with amazing lights made it a pretty fun set but i wish he would do a little less Oxy and actually perform live and with a drummer like in the old days. still better than 80% of the other acts i saw all weekend

This was my favorite set of the weekend. Everything was just perfect, especially the dust.

The dust definitely made the lasers much more effective. I was watching from way in the back, looked pretty sweet and everyone up front was having a good time.

How do you figure he couldn't mix records? That was arguably the most fluid set of the weekend.

I'd like to know why half the speakers were off during this. It was bullshit. That should have been a really great set, you couldn't hear it unless you got all the way down in the throng though and fuck that shit.

He messed up like 2-3 times from what I can recall but it wasn't anything that bad.

After watching his UMF performance there is nothing special there IMO.
