I bought the tickets when they begged me to back in December, thinking it'd be fun to go back.... now I'm stoked.

As a huge Pearl Jam/NIN fan and someone who's been to Voodoo several times, this is a perfect combination. Let's hope the lineup is rounded out with some good weird acts and a few surprises.... now to figure out if I'm willing to camp. (Likely answer - NO!)

They always have a high-profile rap act... I think in the years I went it was Lil Wayne, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, maybe Lauryn Hill?

I am strongly considering this festival because of NIN/HTDA, and I have a friend who lives there and I've never been to New Orleans!

We love city festivals > middle-of-nowhere festivals, and this is as good an excuse to go to N'awlins as you'll find.

They offer camping now but that sounds like an iffy proposition given how poorly everything else is run at Voodoo and how far you'll be from beignets and hurricanes... but $99 for Pearl Jam + NIN alone would be a great deal. How could I refuse?

Forget about hurricanes and beignets, you'll be in walking distance to po boys and craft beer.
I'm usually the biggest voodoo hater in town. Looks like I might actually go this year.

We feel the same way, after a two year hiatus, this line up has won us back.

I've won VIP passes to every Voodoo I've gone to, for at least one of the days.

The great part of their VIP (and the worst part, depending on your perspective) is that they have a viewing area for VIPs that makes it worthless to camp and easy to get a good spot on the main stage - but only the main stage, if it's still the same as it has been in the past. They also have cleaner/better lit restrooms, so that's something.

I remember we walked right up to the barrier one set before Muse and wandered in DURING Ozzie's set and still got a great view towards the front. So that's cool.

I'm finally excited to go again. I'm from New Orleans but the last 2 years have been so shitty I didn't bother to go. I'm really pumped for Desaparecidos. I've never been able to see them...and of course NIN and HTDA!
I still can't believe they're doing camping though. I would never camp there. It's hot, dirty, and dangerous.

They're advertising front row access for all stages this year. If I remember correctly they said that there are 3,000 VIP tickets total. How many stages are there? I'll probably pull the trigger on the VIP sometime this weekend.

Any hotel recommendations? The Bourbon St. balcony prices are pretty absurd. (I'm still going to try and talk my group into doing it)

I'll pull a Suprefan and elbow the shit out of you, zzzizzzler.

I noticed the VIP area in the Mojave this year during, DCD. Did each stage have its own designated are this year? Does the Outdoor have a spot too?

Was that the soundboard area, or a different area? I saw the left side facing the main stage, which appeared to be some sort of VIP area.

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. I think that's what it's going to be like at Voodoo.

Here's a pretty good view of the mainstage VIP during Neil last year:

Hmm. I remember the pit at Bonnaroo being too rough for me. Maybe I should wuss out and get the normal tickets.

Well, you can generally suck to the back of the VIP section and have plenty of room to move (like the Santa Barbara Bowl pit - where they limit the # of tickets sold so everyone that pushes forward gives you more room in the back of the pit).

I'm praying they ask NIN to put on a real "New Orleans Locals" show or something. The last time I saw NIN at Voodoo was Lights in the Sky and that was very nice, but also virtually identical to the show in Chicago. And of course I'm hoping for a long NIN set... you know you're getting 2.5 hours out of Pearl Jam.

I know I'm way late to the party on this, but I don't see any other responses. Last year was the first year they had VIP at all stages. At the small stages, the VIP is VERY small (like 10-15 people sized), but I didn't have any trouble with getting into VIP for any set last year including the small stages with only one exception. The dance stage has a tiny VIP...maybe 60-80 people, and I couldn't get in for Skrillex last year (yes....I know....no loss). Security will shut it down if it gets too full, but VIP at the main stage is plenty big for even the top line headliners. For Metallica, I decided to try to get close and camped after Sliversun Pickups. For all other headliners, it has never been a problem to stroll in when the set starts unless you absolutely have to be on the front rail.

The only thing I'm concerned about this year is that they're at new grounds, so there's no way to be positive about how they will set up access.

I think there is another thread for this, but let's go with this one. We bought our tics and are for sure going. Hotels are too much because of all the things I'm doing this year so it's camp in the park. Anyone done this? We would share a room if there is just like a couple of people or so that are considering it. I'm not out to trash a hotel, just NO in general cr****
