Default Something has to change with the Do-Lab

The Do-Lab either has to move to a different location on the festival grounds or the set up of it has to change. The audio bleed going into the Gobi tent was beyond ridiculous this year.

Good thing I wont be seeing too many acts in the Gobi Tent. Sucks that this is happening, though.

Maybe it would help if they stopped all of these open-air designs and returned to something like 09?

Meh, with the amount of people that attend these festivals, I'm not sure if that's practical.

That's a bummer to hear. Will be curious to see if they change something for weekend 2.

They wont. Can't just make changes like that, especially when the D-lab stage is functionally sound (as far as we know).

At the very least they could shut it down at 9:00pm or so, now that they have the Yuma tent to add to the Sahara and Heineken Dome. It's always crap trying to listen to a quieter band in the Gobi (Scala/Kolacny a few years ago, Dead Can Dance this year, etc) late at night, and having to get really close to hear it without interference but wanting to sit down.

    Spiritualized too.

Does Coachella really need 4 EDM venues?

yeah you had no hope of hearing clean sound from about mid sound booth and back. prevailing winds didn't (don't) help matters either.

The combined noise bleed of Tame Impala and whatever was happening in the Do Lab made for a strange rhythm section for Rodriguez.

    Marques Wyatt’s set killed.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

    haha yup.

But I agree the soundbleed from the lab was way too much in Gobi this year. Move it the fuck over! The lab is necessary sometimes but the bleed was tough this year.

Agreed. I said the same thing to the people I carpooled with as we were walking out one night. It serves a purpose during the day when they're spraying people down in the heat. At night, they can have one Lucient Dossier Experience performance while one/two of the nearby stages are silent, but otherwise it shouldn't be contributing to the sound bleed issues. If you want to watch a main stage act from a bit of a distance & relatively close to the Outdoor Theatre or Gobi, you can't really do so & still enjoy it because you're hearing whatever's being played at the Do Lab so loudly.

The Do-Lab is only fun during the day when it's hot out and you need some cooling down from the people spraying water at the crowd, otherwise, kinda meh. There's usually only a handful of decent artists there and it goes way too late... I wouldn't want it to disappear entirely, but maybe they could switch spaces with it and Heinie Dome and cut it off at 8 or 9 or something :/

I guess I kind of rehashed what you all said above me... bravo chaps.

Perhaps quiet acts should play at a greater distance? Put them where the Sahara is and move the Sahara over a bit?

The Do Lab is better than most of the festival, a shame people seem so threatened by it.

Or just put the Do-Lab directly behind the Sahara and move the food area over a bit. It's like douchebag redlining.

The Gobi was never so crowded that you couldn't just move closer to the stage to drown out the Do Lab sound, at least for the sets I saw there (I opted out of Rodriguez). I was worried it would ruin Father John but he was surprisingly loud up close.
That being said, I generally like the Do Lab but I agree they really should find a solution for the sound bleed.

I'm sorry, poster with 5k posts under his belt on The Coachella Message Board. Has your invitation into The Champions Of The Coachella Message Board arrived in the post yet?

I'm thinking it hasn't, because if it had, your enjoyment of The Coachella Message Board would be free of irritating trolls such as myself.

    Perhaps your membership was declined?

If that would make people happy, fine. Just give me a place with sun, shade, dope beats, and the possibility of getting hosed down.

Surprisingly I did not step into the Do-Lab once this year. Yuma and Heineken Dome > Do-Lab this year.
