Default Smaller crowds for weekend two?

I've seen a few references to a smaller amount of concert-goers for weekend two... What's the reason behind this? If true, I'm surprised they just didn't sell the same amount of passes for both.

they do sell the same amount, its because everyone wants to go the first weekend.

Well the last time I checked, there were a shitload of Weekend 2 tickets for sale on the 2nd hand market (I'm trying to sell an extra one that I have). I think a lot of the weekend 2 sales went to scalpers. The good news is that us attending weekend 2 don't have to trip about an overcrowded venue (hopefully).

I hope this is the case, nothing against big crowds but the pictures posted so far look ridiculous.

the number of tickets sold are the same. the will be a slight less crowd because the're will be a lot less people that jump or get inn illegally. the bad thing is that since everyone wants to go on the first week a lot of the people that go the second week are not all into the music. some people just go for kicks cuz the tix are cheap because they get resold for lower than face value. next year i recommend the first week.

After last years weather and what I've heard about the weather this past weekend, I think Weekend 2 is the better option. I prefer it to be HOT and sunny when in the desert. Not over 100 mind you, but mid 90s sounds great to me.

I'm hoping for a lighter crowd. I've been there when it's packed and it's not fun at all.

i dont care either way because music > people but I hate most of other people so the less there are the happier I am. Some people are cool but we all know most are retarded d-bags.

It's going to be same shit, different asshole. And by asshole I mean weekend.

If anything the crowds would be worse for weekend two.

Not true at all (in my experience). I have a ton of friends going both weekends. My friends who all got tickets for the first weekend are all A) party people who are going for the crowds and celebrities, B) not into music, only want to see pop acts, and were inspired by the Tupac hologram to purchase their tickets, and C) first timers who didn't want to go to Coachella before it became mega popular.

On the other hand, my friends attending the 2nd weekend are all veterans who attend for all of the great bands. Back in the day, we didn't have to fight for passes- we could purchase them a month after they went on sale. So rather than take a day off of work or split up the group, we opted to have a relaxed weekend at weekend 2. I imagine that we're not the only ones who think this way.

Except for the sandstorm Sunday night, the weather this year was perfect. Hot and fun but not annoyingly warm. High 80's/low 90's every day. A little windy Saturday night, a lot windy and dusty Sunday night.

Should be about the same since they both sold out, but it sure would be nice to have it thin out a bit. Shit's got way too crowded now!

Yeah, definitely less people. I had rails for Modest Mouse, YYY'S, Grinderman and Blur. Great times.

I wasn't there last weekend but it's bearable this weekend. Not as bad as 2012 weekend 1.

Was W1 of 2013 really that bad to most people? I didn't think so. Maybe I was high as a kite all weekend in 2012, but 2013's first weekend seemed exactly the same as last 2012's second weekend. I remember just as many people trying to swap or sell their weekend 2 tickets last year as well. Idk. I'm assuming GV sells the same amount every year because of fire codes, limited amount of supplies/food, and just comfort, etc.

I'm sad that Coachella 2013 is over. Having done Weekends 1 & 2, I'd say Weekend was smaller and chiller. The artists seemed more relaxed and had lots of fun. I can only say, you have to do both weekends to experience all that Coachella has to offer. This year, Weekend 2 had the winning weather & MUCH less dust. Oh, and did I say faster shuttles and shorter security lines?

The crowds seemed just as big to me, and the dust really bothered me on weekend 2.
