Coachella's got the headliners and the mid-sized...but most of the mid-bands are playing lolla also. Lolla's got Pearl Jam, Daft Punk, Patti Smith, Muse and The Stooges. Coachella's got Bjork, Rage, ARcade fire, decemberists...it's really a toss-up if you ask me.
i agree man, i wish i could swap a few bands around and have "my" dream line up.
if you ask me...ill go with coachella cause the polo pitch looks incredible with the background and i already have my tickets. i posted a few links to other fests just to compare.
i really really hope coachella adds someone in the next week to top it off!
lolla sucks this year, Ben Harper is a fricken headliner that's just sad.
Both line up's looked very even........
But when I saw Silverchair that just tipped the scales of justice..
For every AndrewBird, Justice, MSTRKRFT, Soulwax that we have,
they have a Silverchair to counter strike us..
2001, 2004, 2007, 2009
2013 EDM wishlish (please):
classixx, stanton warriors, logistics, jefr tale
spencer & hill, bent, eric prydz, mike realm, nick thayer
kruder & dorfmeister, young punx, phonat, treasure fingers
Kraak & Smaak, sergio & benoit, kris menace, bassjackers, DJ Craze
DIGITALISM, knifeparty, chemical brothers, bassbintwins, seth troxler
Lolla is way weak compared to Coachella.
Coachella has JAMC. Lolla has Silverchair.
Silverchair, hahaha
Coachella is way better. We got the RAGE REUNION!
that is history in the making.
story for the grandkids.
no contest.
let's go for a long ride
i'll show you places you won't ever want to leave
i'm going to both. OMG!!!! They're both good in their own right.
Usually the best argument people have against festivals this big is "there's all these no-name bands" AKA "I've never heard of these bands and I'm not going to give them the time of day"
Both lineups are allowed to be great. If you could, I'm sure most of you would be going to both. Lolla having a good lineup doesn't diminish the lineup that Coachella already has.
If you're going to both, you'll have a great time. If you are only going to one, regardless of which it is, you will still have a great time.
I'd go if I lived near Chicago. The end.
I'm lucky that Coachella is within driving distance for me and that it's a damn fine festival.
upcoming
Bjork doing Biophilia, 6/2 Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA
Outside Lands, 8/9-11 Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA
--almost, almost, almost the real thing
agreed completely. who would have ever thought that we would all get to see rage? i never thought in my lifetime that i would ever get to see them. it is a dream come true. and i am in love with the arcade fire.
having said that, i think that the lollapalooza lineup is very strong this year. they did a really good job. i'm glad to see that they are adding some electronic acts. they were much needed at last year's festival.
i think they will both be great festivals and i am going to both. i just got my ticket!
"All right. This is our 'last song.' Then we are going to go backstage and then come back out for our encore and play a few more songs for you."
I agree that Lolla does have a strong line up. If that was in my home city, I would be there in a second! Or even if it as close to me.
However, I would not go on a 21+ hour drive to get to that show. I am however, going on a 21 hour drive to get to Coachella.
I feel Coachella does have the stronger line up, but Lolla is by no means bad. I do think it is weak they have Ben Harper as one of the "headliners." However, there are some Lolla bands I wish we had here at Coachella. The main ones being The Polyphonic Spree, Muse, Iggy and The Stooges, as well as Patti Smith.
I wish I could go to Lolla this year. However, if I had the choice, I would most definately choose Coachella over Lollapalooza.
Let's see. Coachella has twice as many bands worth seeing, most of the bands worth seeing at Lollapalooza are playing Coachella this year, and Lollapalooza only has one headliner. And how can a festival have the nerve to go on this year without the Arcade Fire? And worst of all, no Jarvis.
.................................................. ..............
She added the phrase "meany head" to my profile.I hardly think I'm an attention whore.
If I could, I would most definitely go to Lollapalooza (woah, did I spell that right?) there's a lot of stuff on there I would like to see. even some of the same stuff I'm gonna see at Coachella (it cuts down on the scheduling conflicts). We'll see...
Upcoming: 05/07/13 - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes - Sunshine Theater (Albuquerque, NM); 05/25/13 - Fleetwood Mac - Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA); 05/29/13 - Arctic Monkeys - Sunshine Theater (Albuquerque, NM); 05/30/13 - The Postal Service - Red Rocks (Morrison, CO); Bjork performing Biophilia - 06/02/13 - Hollywood Palladium (Hollywood, CA); Bjork - 06/11/13 - Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA);
I'm going to both. Chicago is within driving distance. Coachella is within getting-on-a-fuckin'-plane-distance.
Coachella has JAMC, Crowded House, Faithless, Travis, Jarvis, Happy Mondays, Arcade Fire and Bjork
Lolla has MUSE(!), Iggy, Daft Punk, PJ, Spoon, TVOTR, Snow Patrol and Yo La Tengo
I'm a happy boy. Y'all can play the "my festival's better than your festival" games to your heart's content. I'm dreaming of a weekend in April and a weekend in August...
A teenage dream, so hard to beat...
Yeah, the lineup is excellent. I'd still give a big edge to Coachella but I'm more excited going to Lollapalooza (you know why PF!). I counted that there's like 34 bands to be added into that lineup thru August so I predict it's going to be probably really close in the end.
wow...way better than coachella. sorry guys. still stoked for coachella though....i wish i could go to both...unlucky for me, im not BALLIIIIIN
I have no desire to go to Chicago. Ben Harper was at the KCRW benefit concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre last year and I walked out.
