I was out walking yesterday and realised it was Palm Sunday.

I'm not a church goer, but I realised that in my normal day of walk, coffee, paper, football (soccer)...that there was no mention of Palm Sunday.

Does this mean that Christ's entry into jerusalem and being proclaimed king, and subsequent crucifixion has now been eradicated from the normal day to day happenings of a predominantly christian country?

Have we become a secular society that chooses to ignore this important piece of religious iconism (is that a word?)?

Agreed. Also, as humans who are far fromt perfect, how can we pretend or be arrogant enough to think that we can comprehend what God is if he/she/it exists? I think there are too many people in the world who follow not what the religions teach (love, sanctity, peace, etc) but what the books written by the human followers of religion say. Remember folks, these are stories passed down through generations...ever play that old game "telephone" where ya whisper to one person and they pass it on? Think about it. All throughout history humans have injected their own bias, hate, and manipulation into religion to create the fucked up entities that we have today.

But yeah...happy Jesus day.

I don't think all organized religion sucks. Some churches are nice places for people with like-minded ideals to congregate, yet the wal-mart sized mega churches are a bit crooked imo.

thats how i think of it....evangelicals have ruined religion. It's sad religion can be a good thing but these people have taken it, distorted it and sold it as a product instead of a belief. Now everyone associates these evangelicals to religion and look at it as a bad thing.

i don't know, I grew up in a christian household. I've been to big and small churches, they all follow the same thread. It's all reactionary (dogmatically/scientifically) if you ask me.

America is still second in having the most percentage of the population not believing in Evolution. (Turkey is number one). So no, I don't think we are secular yet.
