I am pretty excited about the food of NC. I have heard Asheville is famous for its BBQ. For all of you who have been to Asheville, I will need good restaurant recommendations when it gets closer to the fest. I am pretty excited for all the food I am going to be eating.

EDIT: And I don't mean fancy and/ or expensive places either. Dives/ holes in the wall suit me just fine. In fact, I would probably prefer that.

I'd like to swing this later this year. Can't buy tix now though... Hopefully it doesn't sell out.

One Stop Deli is located underneath the asheville music hall (with it's own entrance/storefront on the street behind it) and is great spot for a sandwich, eat in or carry out. It also has it's own staircase up to the asheville music hall, and last year you could actually use that to get into the venue for shows, and it was usually a shorter/easier line (even if it moves slower) than the front entrance.

Honey Tupelo Cafe is an Asheville staple definitely worth checking out. If you have a car, you can drive out to the location outside of downtown to avoid the long waits. The downtown location is commonly a 2hr wait downtown during the festival. Or you can put your name on the list and wander around town for a bit. Either way it's worth it.

Anyone have information on VIP? Good or bad? Worth the extra cash?

The description doesn't sound very intriguing other than the line jumping part.

*VIPs will be given priority access to all Mountain Oasis venues, subject to capacity. Entry is not guaranteed and will be based on a first-come, first-served basis
Highly doubtful that they would sell over 7,000 VIP Passes....so why even put this?

There isn't a separate capacity for VIP. You are not guaranteed entry and have to wait for 1 in 1 out just like GA. The huge difference is VIP gets bumped to the front of the line if the show up at a venue that is at capacity.

They have a strong track record of booking acts they 'like' on Facebook.

Fingers crossed. I've been looking for a good aerobics instructor.

Pretty sure they said on their Facebook that due scheduling they weren't able to book Atoms For Peace, The Knife or The xx.

Yeah, I am definitely super stoked on this festival right now. Any word on how festival passes are selling? Part of me hopes they are selling slowly so that they add some big names. If the festival sold out right away, I assume the other 28 artists to fill up the line-up would be pretty small names. Hopefully they still have a couple upper-tier names to add.

Speaking of... how many artists did the first round of MoogFest usually have? And when was the first round of additions?

Im surprised Tier 2 tickets are available, if the festival capacity is truly 5k, then im assuming only 2500 tix are sold, or so. Im just guessing here.

    Capacity is higher than 5k.

Its hard to peg when things happen for Moog/MOEMS.

Theyve gone from 3 days to 2 and now back to 3. Last years info was MUCH later than 2011 or what we have so far this year.

Last year i belueve they added a top 4 act for the weekend after the initial lineup.

It should be noted that Mountain Oasis and Moogfest are now two totally different events happening at different times of the year.

Needless to say - I am stoked for both!

They said on facebook that the "headliners" have been announced and to expect 30-35 more acts and lots of surprises. I think we are getting at least two more pretty big acts to play in the arena before the headliners though.

Since the capacity of the arena is roughly 5,000 I am assuming the capacity of the festival must be a alot more. I assume it would be closer to what the capacity of the 5 venues put together can hold... but not more.

So who do we think will be in the arena then? Obviously the 3 headliners. We know NMH will be in the Theatre. Animal Collective in the arena most likely? I heard the venue reached capacity for Disclosure last year reached capacity quite early, so maybe Disclosure? Gary Numan before NIN perhaps?

And they said on Facebook between 30-35 more acts? That is craziness.

I think Animal Collective will be in arena and I am hoping that Disclosure play The Orange Peel this year. I will be really curious to see where HTDA end up. If they use the same setup as the current tour you have to figure they will be closing whatever venue they play. Maybe they play The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium?

Yeah, I am assuming HTDA will close whatever stage they are playing as well. Maybe one of the nights will go Godspeed -> HTDA at the Thomas Wolfe.

Google suggested to me capacity at the places was...

    US Cellular Arena - 7700
    Thomas Wolfe Theater - 2500
    Orange Peel - 1100
    Diane Waltham Theater - 500
    Asheville Music Hall - 400

I'd love to know how many tickets they are trying to sell as it would let me know how much of a clusterfuck it's going to be. I like the lineup. Though maybe I'd like to see Neutral Milk Hotel somewhere I'm guaranteed to see them and don't have to worry about lining up because 4k people want in to a 2.5k capacity space?

If they are only selling 10k tickets, then I'd feel comfortable that everyone could (mostly) get into everything. If they are selling 15k....
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    5-14 - Kvelertak @ St Vitus
    5-16 - Elbow & John Grant @ Webster Hall
5-23 - Sheer Terror @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar

Assuming the arena can actually only hold 5,000 people (a good portion of seating is removed due to the stage itself, if you add up the capacity of all the venues, if all of them were at capacity they could sell 9,500 passes to this.
