Well, I can say I have seen my first tweet that hasn't been a part of a news story now.

Thanks for the update. I wish they still televised these.

Also, what do you suggest someone does when they run into bad card luck. You know, those stretches when you can't catch anything, or if you do catch something someone else has a better hand. Do you play through it and hope you get better cards while losing money, or do you take a break from cards for awhile and hope the bad card karma wears itself out.
Came close to picking up my 2nd World Series bracelet this year.

I got 5th place in the $5000 Limit Holdem event. I had the chip lead with 12 left going into Day 3, and regained a very slight chip lead at one point at the final table. My downward trend started at the final table when my AK lost to AQ on an A-high flop, and a Q hit the river. That guy ended up winning the bracelet.

Had a heartbreaking end to my Main Event. After playing 3 full days of great poker, and outlasting about 87% of the field, I got it all in with AK and ran into AA -- the worst possible all-in spot in poker. I avoided busting in so many spots prior to that, you wouldn't believe. There were about 825 people left, 648 spots paid a minimum of $19,100, and 6,352 had entered.

If you are on a losing streak, I have three suggestions. You should probably try them all:

    1) Take a break. How long? However long it takes to where you don't have a "loser's" mentality at the table, and to where your previous run of bad luck is ancient history to you. Some can manage this in a matter of days, others it takes months or more. For me, I need about 2-3 weeks off to clear my head during bad losing streaks.

    2) Change something. It's very possible that either your previous play style no longer works (due to differing play styles of opponents over time), or that your play style was never as good as you thought it was, and reality is starting to show through after an initial (sometimes long) run of good luck. Honestly assess your game, and figure out what you could do better. Then set out to change it. If necessary, ask a friend you play with (who is a good player) to honest assess what might be causing you to lose.

    3) Drop down in stakes or change casinos. Game selection is huge. If you are clearly better than everyone at the table, your edge will be MUCH larger than if you have others at the table who are equal to you or better. Perhaps you are playing stakes that are too high (not for your bankroll, but perhaps for your skill level), or just in a casino where the players are tougher than average. Sadly, most poker players play one level higher than what they can beat. If they would be a winning 1-2 player, they want to play 2-5. If they can beat 2-5, they want to play 5-10. If they can beat 5-10, suddenly they think they are too good for anything but 10-20, etc.

So I got a black jack related question. So I've heard from multiple dealers that a 2 is the worst card to see the dealer have because they can get the most combinations of 21 from showing a 2. I have heard otherwise from players though, I can honestly say I'm not 100% sure at what level they were at, that to just trat like any other bust card. Out of curiosity is a dealer showing a 2 good or bad?

I hate seeing a 2. i treat it like a bust card and stay if I have 12 or more though.

I was just in vegas this weekend and it was glorious. not much gambling this trip though.

I would rather see the dealer have a 2 over an 8-A, but I am not happy to see a 2 on either side of the table really.

Drinkey, glad you had fun in Vegas!

    Absolutely wrong.

The worst card to see for the dealer is an ace. 30.77% of the time, you lose automatically because they have blackjack (unless you have a blackjack yourself), and the rest of the time you're still in trouble because the ace can represent either 1 (more flexible than the 2 you speak of) or 11.

The second-worst card is a ten. 7.7% of the time you're facing a blackjack, 30.77% of the time they have a hard 20 (very difficult to beat if you aren't dealt it already), and a whopping 61.54% of the time, the dealer has 17 or better, meaning you have to make a hand to beat him.

Here is the order of the dealer cards you'd like to see (ignoring what hand you hold), from best to worst:

    6
    5
    4
    3
    2
    7
    8
    9
    T
    A

Now, once you factor in your holdings, this changes.

If you have 18, the best card for the dealer to have is a 7, for obvious reasons.

If you're holding 20, you want to see the dealer with 7, 8, or 9.

In those cases, you don't like seeing a deuce in the dealer's hand, for reasons described, but you're still way better off than an ace or ten being there.

When the first few came out it was cool thing, but then almost every non magic show in Vegas becamse are Cirq show and I just think they over saturated themselves with them.

Last one I saw was LOVE in 2006. AMAZING. I bought the soundtrack. #nerd

got this in the mail and most likely will do it before year end (even though Vegas is butt cold late Nov through Dec).

$280 plus ass fisting "resort fee"" gets you:
-Two Nights at Wynn Encore King Suite
-Two Tickets for Le Reve water wet dream thing
-Two lunch or one breakfast buffet at Wynn's The Buffet

Also, Archie, is craps better after midnight and do drunks really make better rollers? Can you recommend a good weekend $30-ish Hold Em tournament with loads of shitty players? New Orleans? Does Wynn only have No Limit to keep the filthy peasants off the premises (I went from $150 to $800 there one time *pats self on back*)? Why do douchey poker aholes all convene at Aria?

Archie, hitting Vegas this weekend for NIN and would genuinely like some advice on one thing about Vegas that's always plagued me:

It's super fucking annoying trying to find good food on a budget there are the places I'm normally staying, which usually ends up being in some casino on the strip for whatever reason. Which tends to make the options either (a) really good restaurants in the casinos, which I would love to do, but can't really afford at the moment, (b) buffet or other such shitshows which cost almost as much as a really good meal at an expensive restaurant but deliver nothing but tremendous amounts of HORRIBLE fucking food, or (c) eating at insanely overpriced and utterly shitty little eateries inside the casinos where you get like an inedible single-serving pizza for 12 dollars, or a horrible sandwich at some deli that claims to be NY Famous for eleven dollars and is revolting, and so on.

We're going to be staying up near the Hard Rock, since the show is there. Any advice on a way to eat semi-decently in that area (we'll have a car) without spending too much money? Would be happy to travel to joints outside of casinos.

Also, in the event that my gambling compulsion gets the best of me, what are the best poker rooms and low-minimum blackjack casinos in that area? Is the Hard Rock a tolerable place to gamble? It feels like not.

Yes I know I am not Archie but I did live in Vegas for a bit so here are some my suggestions if you care. If not then proceed to go and say you asked Archie and not me and then say some sort of joke directed at me.

If you have a car off of Tropicana and Maryland there is a really good British Pub called Crown and Anchor. Decently priced really good food. Also has a giant beer selection on tap, mainly focusing on British beers but really has everything. Also PT's Pubs and Sierra Gold (owned and same menu as PT's, just decided to change some of the name to some of then) has really good and reasonable priced bar food. I am not exactly sure where one is closest to the Hard Rock but there are plenty of them out there so one shouldn't be to far. Yes both of those are bars but they are also full service restaurants, not like some shitty dive bar with a sketchy kitchen. Also if you drive down south a few miles on Las Vegas Boulevard you will hit a mall called Town Square and they will have some of your typical restaurants. Tommy Bahamas, Texas de Brasil (really good all you can eat Brazilian BBQ, but on the more expensive side), and some others that I don't remember at this point. If you have a car and don't mind driving off the strip you can get really good food for standard prices.

I'm not to sure about the Poker Rooms as poker isn't my game but most hotels on the Strip have a 15 minimum for Black Jack. I think NY NY has a 10 minimum but I am not 100% sure on that. Fremont Street will have 5 minimum but that will require about a 25 cab ride each way or driving yourself and who wants to do that. Also parking can be a pain in the ass down there. I do however recommend going to Fremont street if you have never been and have some time available as it is a pretty cool spot.

I bought the soundtrack because it's a must-have for any serious Beatles fan.

The Mr Kite/I Want You mix was worth the 15 bucks all by itself.

Never seen the show but tried on two stopovers and it was always dark.

    Perhaps 2014.

Stick with pass bets and put odds on them if you want your best chance of winning. The exotics are how the house makes its money.
