I really, really hate standing off in the shadows watching after I've left the machine. It happened to me once, and since then I've been known to cash-out, sit there a moment and wait, and then reinsert money, hoping the machine thinks I'm a new person.

Typing that just now just made me realize how fucking stupid I may appear while gambling....But, is it?
My grandma always told me to only play slots when you see someone walk away with no money. And no that technique of cashing out isn't stupid. My friend was playing a slot. He lost his money. After I put a 10 in and said I'm going to take your big hit, two spins later I cash with a 100, he wasn't to excited for me.

If I have soft 16 or 17 and the dealer is showing a 6 I typically double down.

This thread is giving me a blackjack jones.

There's no doubt you should hit. The two schools of thought may be whether to double down or not.

I would consider that if the shoe was busting frequently, but really that's all blackjack is: minimize losses until the dealer starts showing low cards, flipping teens, and pulling faces the way the math says they should, then get as much money as you can up there while it's happening. If the dealer hasnt been busting tho all the double down rules go out the window for me personally.

Alright, MGM Grand, good tables for beginners? I only play Blackjack and roulette.
Also, are hotel massages worth it, or should I get in my car and just go to a regular spa. 4 days of partying at Coachella hurts my body, and pretty sure both the hotels I'm considering staying at don't have discount spa treatments for guests.

The reason I asked was because while I played last week as anchor, I got shit from the table for taking the hit on a soft 17 instead of letting the dealer take it. I insisted that on a soft hand you have the chance to improve upon a relatively weak hand so why wouldn't you, regardless of your role at the table? But the table felt as anchor, I should stand but I disagreed. Interesting input about the double down though. I don't double down unless I have 10 or 11.

I find I have better luck playing blackjack at older casinos, dealers and other players tend to be a lot nicer to beginners. The Flamingo paid my ex and I about $1000 when I went for my birthday a couple years ago, then over Christmas I played at some shit hole casino on Fremont St and took about $600.

    Good luck.

I don't play black Jack because of the supposed rules, or roles. You're gambling, bitch, so am I. And I'm gambling with my money, so go eat a dick when you feel like telling me how I should play.

Everyone else was trying to protect their own asses.

Also, against a low card, doubling down on any soft teen is essentially the same as a 10 or an 11 since you're betting that the dealer is going to bust anyway.

What are you're thoughts on Russian roulette for those on death row . We could put it in Vegas and sell tickets / take bets .

Blackjack is a game of the table against the dealer though, there are certain rules that should be followed to get the best possible outcome. I will get up and go to another table if there are people who obviously don't give a shit about the rules. Like splitting 10s... Of course there is the occasional I feel it in my gut move that people will make, and it pays off sometimes. But if it's a continual thing it just ruins it for everyone. I love when you sit at a table where everyone is playing by the rules, everyone is winning, high fiving each other when dealer busts.

That's it, I am planning a trip to Vegas.

That would actually be perfect. I have been wanting to go in the summer but never quite make it. I keep reading about some hotels now having blackjack tables in the pools. How fucking awesome does that sound? Whenever I go it's too cold to check it out though.

I've played blackjack in the Tropicana pool, it's awesome. Also, the lazyy river at MGM is stupid fun. it's like floating down a 1/4 mile frat party. I thought I would hate it, but we spent like 5 hours out there last August and had a blast

Exactly! When everyone at the table is on the same page and playing consistently, it seems to flow and wins come more easily. I love playing when it's like that. It sucks when you get some moron that doesn't know what they are doing at all and fucks everything up for the whole table.

On the subject of splitting - i'll split 7s, 8s, or 9's against a 6 or less every time. If I have 9's I'll split against a 7 or 8 if there aren't a lot of face cards out in the shoe.

I'm by no means a beginner, but I don't want to find myself being the person the rest of the people give the stink-eye to if I should appear baffled on my turn. Keep in mind that you're playing the house, not so much the dealer. The dealers would like to see you win, hoping to get a nice tip out of your winnings, and if you can find a friendly one, they'll give you tips or advice. Personally, I'll cruise the blackjack tables looking for things like the guy that's got a mountain of chips and a serious look on his face and avoid that table for fear of being "that gambler." Instead, I'll find a table that looks like it's having fun and everyone's having a good time, especially if they appear to be winning. Another tip if you're really just beginning is to go to the table in the early morning hours, like 4-8 am. By that time, most gamblers have passed out shitfaced in their rooms, or are headed that way and the dealers are left lumbering about waiting for the next rush. (And, by next rush, I'm talking senior citizens. Tables may be cheaper and the play will be slower then as well.) Can't really clue you in on the spa situation though, sorry.

Try telling that to the guy betting $50 a hand while you and your $5 bet are acting like an entitled bitch.

That's kind of what you get for playing $50 hands at a $5 table.

True. But, that guy with the $50 hand may have been there awhile working up from $5 bets before tossing down a couple of $50 bets because the timing that Randy mentioned earlier had come along. Nobody likes playing next to the drunken arrogant assfuck at a table who probably couldn't focus on a card if he tried.

I always start at the $10 table ($5 if it's early enough to find one) and once I have won a nice stack I will start increasing my bet. I rarely make it to $50/hand but I often get up to $25-$30 until I lose, then will jump back down to $10. People are just a lot nicer at the lower level tables.

Yes, you can, but as soon as you turn your back for a second they will rob you blind, as well as anyone you share your hotel room with. NEVER TAKE THE HOOKERS BACK TO YOUR ROOM.

You just got lucky. There are no better odds on a slot machine than what the payout percentage is, no matter how much money it has received or given out. Every spin has the same odds of winning or losing.

See this is a lie though; as I've used the two girls for $70 coupon and you don't get them for that rate. You have to pay them $120 first, that way they stay for an hour at least, then they work from tips from there. You COULD use a credit card, but they prefer cash. The $70 coupon was apparently as SCAM!

So I left them in my hotel room alone with some cocaine and a camera to test their integrity whilst I went to the ATM. Upon returning, with no money for the hookers, my blow was not touched nor was my camera stolen.

    AUDRA HAS PROVIDED FAULTY INFORMATION.

I'd also like to prepare you folks: Those girls on the cards, they are not the ones who come to your hotel!!

I love this tip because it seems you somehow knew that those are only hours I play anyways. Gambling all the money I found on the floor is usually the last thing I do before going to bed. It's the only way to truly feel like a winner.

This does sound incredibly appealing, especially stoned after 4 nights of partying to the bone at Coachella. I am going to call to see if it's open. I hear it's only a summer/weekend thing.

Well, this is true. It gets annoying when you're walking around looking for a table to start at and everybody sitting at the $5/10 tasbles all have $30-50 in chips in front of them. But then again again, that may mean they're all having a good streak.

You might be correct in that they may not open up the pools until after Memorial Day, at least the big party pools.

Yeah, I usually see it as a good sign so it doesn't bother me. I do get bothered by the guy playing two spots at a full table when there are other people looking to sit down.
