Really hope Television starts heading their way over to the polo fields afterwards. This looks awesome, wish I could go

    A few thoughts

    - Performances of Reich's work are outstanding. Music for 18 Musicians is a monumental work and would be amazing to see. A top show of the year, probably. In fact last year's presentation at the Disney Hall was for some boardies.
    - Nazoranai would be huge. All members of the trio - Haino, Ambarchi, and O'Malley - are badasses and their one album under the Nazoranai name is incredible. Heavy noise/drone stuff. This would be the biggest draw for me.
    - Tim Hecker puts on an absolutely mindblowing show.
    - Julia Holter puts on a very layered, beautiful performance, expertly mixing ambient elements with pop melodies
    - Colin Stetson is a monster on his bass sax, and his performances are pretty much undescribeable. A must see.
    - Vatican Shadow puts on a fun noise-infused techno set
    - Nils Frahm is an outstanding pianist and makes some of the most interesting modern classical out there right now
    - Bill Orcutt does things with a guitar that no one should, and I was deeply impressed with his performance last year at Hopscotch
    - Mark McGuire, formerly of Emeralds, has a massive solo catalog, a lot of which is great, but he's hit or miss.

This is a festival catered pretty closely to my tastes, but as it's mostly artists I've seen already (some more than once) I don't think I'll be going. Pretty damn jealous about Nazoranai though.

This festival keeps getting better...hot damn!!!!

The festival's rock edge expands with the intense, brooding trio Low, whose new record, The Invisible Way, produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, was one of the most celebrated releases of 2013; a rare performance by drone-rock revolutionaries Earth; and Body/Head, the potent collaboration between former Sonic Youth bassist / singer Kim Gordon and guitarist Bill Nace, whose debut album Coming Apart landed high on many “Best of 2013” lists.

Other exciting festival additions include acclaimed American folk artist Lonnie Holley, who will perform his unique and inventive music as well as conduct one of this acclaimed sculpture workshops; Buke and Gase, inventors of the
beautiful handmade instruments on which they perform; David Greenberger and Prime Lens, featuring The Duplex Planet publisher and NPR contributor narrating his touching, humorous stories to the interpretive musical accompaniment, including Bob Stagner of the Shaking Ray Levis.

Recently rediscovered Ethiopian music master, Hailu Mergia and Low Mentality, whose classic record Hailu Mergia & His Classic Instrument was reissued in 2013 to considerable acclaim, brings his intoxicating, African funk to the festival; and the provocative and ethereal Norwegian singer and writer, Jenny Hval, whose latest release is Innocence Is Kinky, rounds out the new additions to the lineup.

We're also excited to share that the individual members of the supergroup Nazoranai, already performing at the festival, will perform solo and duo shows during the festival weekend. Japanese guitarist and vocalist Keiji Haino will bring his intensely cathartic solo experience to the festival along with an equally enthralling performance from Sunn O))) founder and doom rock pioneer Stephen O’Malley. O’Malley will also join Oren Ambarchi as the Stephen O’Malley and Oren Ambarchi duo performing compositions by Alvin Lucier, Iancu Dumitrescu, and more.

More details, including lineup additions, unique performances, the festival schedule, and details about workshops, talks, installations, and more will be announced in the coming weeks.

Damn I really wanna see Nazoranai. That record is amazing, and I was really jealous when Roskilde got them a couple years ago

May have to completely reconsider my plans for WMC in lieu of attending this. I can't think of an act on here I don't like quite a bit.
