How hard could it be to get Motorhead? They start a Euro tour in late May.

As I said they are way capable of it. There are plenty of artists already named that are open. They've already gotten off cheap this year and are going to bank so they can afford it. If they were going to shell out big money for Mick n the boys then they can obviously shell it out for a replacement act to fill that spot. Plain and fucking simple.

This assumes that money is the only factor in adding a replacement, and it's not.

...what the hell is Ringo Starr doing these days?

...and you know someone has to say it; but Bowie just put out a new album. Ain't gonna happen, I know, I know, but I'm freakin' pissed about Lou Reed.

When people are calling out names that could adequately replace Lou Reed it does. Especially on short notice. Everybody knows the saying "Money talks".

No, it doesn't. Money is part of the equation, yes, but asking a band to put together a live festival show in a few weeks is something else entirely (especially if said band is not in the middle of a tour or currently preparing for one in the summer).

The negative backlash of a non-replacement will bankrupt GV for years to come.

The best plausible idea I have heard so far is Iggy Pop & the Stooges. Very similar fan bases, looks like there is a gap in his tour dates, and he probably won't be too expensive.

He was supposed to play in LA in November with Morrissey but that got cancelled. Only catch is he's playing the Ink n Iron fest in Long Beach in June, but hopefully that wouldn't be an impediment.

Well anybody who is able to fill the spot isn't going to do it for free. Thats all I know. With the track record that GV has in replacing acts in past years we all know its not going to happen so I could really give a shit less.

Elaborate a bit more on the plausibility of this act compared to the plausibility of other potential replacement acts.

Money from the Lou drop out? Also, some artist BEG to be on the Coachella festival so they wouldn't ask extortionary rates

I think the conspiracy runs much deeper than that - GV knew all along that Lou would cancel, but they included him on the poster anyways in order to sell more tickets and then keep the profit once said cancellation was made official. They also allowed the Rolling Stones headliner rumor to go on, something which is just another way they try to fleece us out of our money. For shame, GV; for shame.

Iggy & Stooges would have got a higher billing & bigger payday than Lou. Someone implied on this forum back in January that they declined an invitation from GV.

I'm refering to acts of his magnitude. Not replacing him with some up and coming act.

Bowie ain't happening, Ringo needs proper rehearsal with his "Starrs", Byrne in NYC with a play, a 60 minute Crazy Horse set is silly, Acoustic Neil could work but the billing is low, Dind't Paul Simon headline Glastonbury and Tom Waits is dreaming.

Another name who could do 60 minutes is Robert Plant. Though his Australia tour ends Aprill 11th, so they'd have to swap an act from Sunday for that to work.

Without question; I think we should look into a class action lawsuit in which Lou's appearance fee is distributed equally to all ticket holders. In fact, I would like the same action to be taken retroactively for each and every band that has canceled in the festival's history.

An independent Senate Judiciary Committee should be able to determine the relative monetary value of acts that have been added to the lineup after cancellations to balance the equation.

I like that idea, especially since GV will no doubt over-inflate the value of these replacement bands. Who is going to volunteer to start the change.org petition?
