You're missing the linchpin of the change: all of the beauty will keep enraptured campers in a transfixed state of bliss, allowing for a more orderly and less time-consuming procession of traffic out of the festival.

    Hello Guidita,
    I missed you?...

The campgrounds at Coachella and every other camping festival I have been to (Bonnaroo, LIB, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest, Firefly) are pretty dark and boring when you look at the entire camp ground. When you walk around at night it's just a bunch of cars. If everyone would decorate and light up their car the experience would be much different. I understand that most people wont do anything and that's fine, but the more people do it the better the experiences will be. This is my attempt to do try and do something different.

Tucker, I am concerned your proposal would produce unnecessary carbon pollution. Is there a way we could get people to generate electricity for the lighted camp sites that would be less reliant on fossil fuels? Perhaps we could raid the Do Lab's equipment and plug it into an electrical grid that could power the Christmas lights on various camp sites?

Let's pay it forward to the Earth, too, buddy.

That is a good point. I am going to edit the website to say that you should get rechargeable batteries.

I have a friend whose life was changed at coachella 2011 as well. He became obsessed with art and began touring the world with his exhibit called "exploitation". He essentially sits in a 5x5 area surrounded by a chain link fence in different cities and masturbates to completion in 24 hour cycles at each stop. He's premiering it as one of the installations this year you guys should definitely stop by and check it out. It's nice to see you two using your inspiration to better us all.

    Dark and boring:

Go ahead and add to the fun, but don't go saying it wasn't happening.

Ivankay those are perfect examples of how to light up your camp site. The more that do it the better. It doesn't take much but it sure makes a big difference.

At this point in the game of the camp grounds, you can't act as if you are the Moses of innovative sites. There's even a thread on these boards dedicated to the efforts people put into their "making the festival better" through innovative camping. i think the problem people are having with you here is the ego you put into your presentation like your idea(s) are ground breaking. People have been going that extra mile at Coachella for years. i don't think anyone minds that you want to have fun, but you're going about it the wrong way by stating it as an original concept.

I don't mean to come across from an egotistical point of view. I just see something that could be improved and am trying to show the average Coachella goer that there is a better way. People on this board are not average Coachella goers. You guys go way beyond that. The video is for everyone else that doesn't think about doing this stuff until they go to the camp grounds and see other sites with it.

Those still recharge on the normal electrical grid though, which is like 75% coal in this country. Be the change by bringing your own bicycle powered generator to Coachella and use that charge your batteries. If you do it in the heat of the middle of day I'm pretty sure, like 95% on this, that it generates extra juice.

Why not direct them to this board filled with experts then? i don't know how many "average Coachella goers" you have an audience of that aren't aware of the website, the facebook page and these boards, but the few of them shouldn't be told things don't happen when they do and have. If educating people was you objective, why start off with a false premise? It's be better and more humble for you to go along the lines of "Coachella camping is crazy and some people go all out. Here's some examples." than to say "It's dark and boring. Hey! I got a great idea!" If you were kidding, it doesn't come across that way.

This would be like me saying "Man would't it be great if someone tried to take great pictures of Coachella?! Wow, i just came up with something. i'm going to take pictures at Coachella" That would show i have no concept of the history of Coachella photography and that is automatically disrespectful to all those photographers that have been documenting the festival since day 1.

^^^ there has to be an english barrier here or something. everyone started off as dicks and humbly came down to earth and explained what your doing completely wrong and your still up beat and not understanding that Coachella is what you make it. If your coachella last year was so aww inspiring that you became a professional homeless man and started going festival to festival then why do you describe the camping as dark and boring? Everyone is simply saying the problem with your own personal camping experience was you my friend not the fact that other people didn't light up their cars for you. just my two cents though

Is there a pornographic deleted scene missing from this masterpiece?

Having the camp grounds illuminated would not enhance my Coachella experience at all. It's just not a worthwhile cause.

p.s. I'm not being mean, just truly worried how you can't understand what is being pointed out to you.

I completely agree. Coachella is what we ALL make it. This is where everyone seems to think that I am talking down to people. I'm not talking down to, I am just trying to say that we ALL make Coachella what it is. Think about it. If I decorated my campsite and made it cool to look at at night I would make Coachella 1/15,000 (i figure 15,000 cars in the parking lot) better. What good does that do? Sure people passing by might think its really cool and it will improve their experience a little. The reason I am trying to get other people to do the same is if everyone would try just a little we could all create something as a group that not individual could do.

The real example here is Burning Man. At Burning Man (i can feel the boo's already) the organization puts in the bathrooms and builds 2 structures. They also handle all the logistics. The rest of the event is built by the attendees. Each bar, sound stage, art piece, food area, art car, and campsite is put together by the participants. When everyone contributes it creates something bigger than any individual could have imagined.

I'm not suggesting that Coachella turn into Burning Man. I'm just suggesting that you should know that you matter. You can make Coachella a little prettier if you decorate the front of your campsite, you can make Coachella a little cleaner if you pick up a couple bottles on your journey between stages. Like you said, Coachella is what you make it.

My crews site will be well lit up for sure. Do I have a car right now..... no. I actually just got in a fender bender and it threw a pretty major wrench in a lot of my plans. It's all good though. I will happily be at both weekends of Coachella and my crews site will definitely be on the positive side of the Coachella experience.
