Always find it funny when people complain about another fest having better lineup when half their lineup played Coachella in last two years.
But Bonnaroo & Coachella have always had different leans with Bonnys core sensibility anchored in classic rock feel of 60s and 70s and Coachella far more of an 80s/90s lean.
But truthfully only two acts on Bonny bill it kills me to see are Django Django who I prefer over fellow Brit quirk poppers Alt-j and big miss here Swans who to my ears made what was easily (sorry Frank Ocean) the years best album in The Seer. But in truth not sure makes sense for Swans to play just a fifty minute set. They'd get through 3 songs at most. So Bonny with their 75-90 min set times was probably more attractive to Gira and Co!
I think this is Bonnaroo's best lineup in years, possibly ever, and I still think Coachella's is better this year. McCartney is awesome, but I'd take Blur, Stone Roses and Phoenix before Petty or Mumford. It's awesome that Bonnaroo booked R. Kelly, the National, Baroness, Swans, and I think the Jim James superjam will probably be pretty fun, but that's about the only stuff I'm really "jealous" of. Bonnaroo also tends to feature bluegrass, but that's not something I'd ever really expect at Coachella. Meanwhile, Coachella's EDM absolutely destroys Bonnaroo, and they booked stuff like J5, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, James Blake, Cloud Nothings, YYY, HTDA, Grinderman, Spiritualized, etc., which I'd take over just about anything on Bonnaroo's undercard.
Long story short, this is a great rebound year for Bonnaroo after some really disappointing recent lineups, they finally more or less completely ditched the jambands, but people who think this lineup "dominates" Coachella's probably aren't looking past McCartney/Mumford/Petty/Bjork vs. Blur/Stone Roses/Phoenix/RHCP.
Coachella > Bonnaroo in 2013. Bonnaroo is rocking a solid Coachella recycled lineup, and Tom Petty. Pretty much already saw most of the acts on the Bon lineup I would want to see. Coachella has many more new experiences for me personally this year. Coachella has booked most of the acts on the Bonnaroo Lineup in the last five+ years alone.
Lollapalooza will be the better Festival this year, just like last year, the year before and the year before that.............
If you knew what you were saying, you wouldn't be saying anything.
"blahblahblahblahblahblah!"* f a r t n o i s e *
This is the best Roo lineup ever and I will be attending the fest for the first time this year. Having said that the Coachella lineup is much deeper overall. People are placing way too much emphasis on headliners.
what is Swans
what is AnCo
what is R. Kelly
what is the National
what is Baroness
what is Big K.R.I.T.
ya fucked up
I see no Blur, no Stone Roses, no Modest Mouse, no Nick Cave, no YYY, No Sigur Ros.
No Lou Reed, J5, New Order, James Blake, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, Grimes, The Faint.
Other than the bands that are playing both, the only bands that I haven't seen at Roo that I'm interested in are Bjork and Wilco. Pass.

The only thing I'm jealous of is Tom Petty. When's he playing Coachella already?
Petty does not fit the Coachella aesthetic.
5/18 Rolling Stones @ Honda Center 5/25 Limp Bizkit @ Observatory 6/3 Sting @ SB Bowl
6/8 Ink-n-Iron @ Queen Mary 6/9 Tom Petty @ Fonda 7/12 Black Flag @ Observatory

no YYY or postal service, no dice. the mid and bottom tiers are almost identical i dont give a shit about paul mccartney, nas is awesome but i dont go to festivals for hip hop, and mumford and sons blows dicks. am i missng something?
i had a blast at bonnaroo, but i do not feel bad at all for my coachella purchase.
Great to see the competition stepping up. Hopefully this makes GV take their game to the next level. And shit, I'd love to see Petty at Coachella some day.
Hope you get pissed on by R. Kelly.
Coachella's lineup this 2013 was amazing. RHCP, Blur, Modest Mouse, Phoenix, James Blake, Bauuer, Bassnectar, Beach House (at ROO), Hot Chip, J5, Knife Party, Sigur Ros, Spiritualized, The Postal Service, TNGHT, Vampire Weekend, Violent Femmes, Wu Tang, and Youth Lagoon. Bonnaroo really sucks this year. I don't care to see Mumford and Sons and have already seen Tom Petty. Other than that, Bjork (pitchfork), Wu Tang and David Byrne w/ St. Vincent (80-35). I can see them there. Grizzly Bear and Kendrick Lamar already played in town. So, besides Nas, Animal Collective and Boys Noize there are no bands I would really be inclined to see. I enjoy camping and drug use at Bonnaroo cause it's a lot better than Coachella in that aspect. Bonnaroo is always fun to hang out and camp. It is the best music festival; however, I can not believe anyone can enjoy the Bonnaroo lineup because it is absolutely horrible in comparison to the last couple years. Last year RHCP and Radiohead are great headliners. Mumford and Sons is the most overrated band in existence and Paul McCartney is the one band I truely want to see at Bonnaroo. Otherwise, it's insulting to say Bonnaroo has a better lineup than Coachella. That's bullshit and whoever says it has a horrible taste in music and obviously does not attend to many concerts or music festivals.
They must have just woke up ... slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... cr****
