Thread: Bonnaroo 2013 lineup absolutely dominates Coachella 2013

Default Bonnaroo 2013 lineup absolutely dominates Coachella 2013

    Lineup Here

Feel like a bit of a chump buying that Coachella pass right now. But hey, at least SoCal will be more fun than Tennessee would be.

    Discuss.

No, I was thinking more along the lines of the strength of these two festival lineups.

Bonnaroo has better headliners (Bjork/Macca/Petty > Blur/Phoenix/RHCP). Coachella's lineup is better all around.

Only bands I wish Coachella had were would be small font bands - Frank Turner, Swans, Cults, Cat Power. I don't think I could turn down a chance to see ZZ Top either, though it would just be for the lulz.

Both have good lineups. Coachella caters more to my taste in music.

Also, if you "Feel like a bit of a chump buying that Coachella pass right now", then simply sell it and go to the festival that you think has a better lineup. Problem solved.

Coachella is a slight win with their creativity but I enjoy Bonnaroo's more overall. The extra day, late night (and longer) sets and unopposed headliners are nice.

I didn't go the year Macca was at Coachella and I missed the day Bjork played in '07. Flame away but I'd take Petty over any of Coachella's headliners too.

Except we also bought plane tickets and, as stated in the OP, I'd much rather go to SoCal than Tennessee. Just a little disappointed to see such a stronker lineup.

I'm going to enjoy the shit out of Spiritualized, Cloud Nothings, Thee Oh Sees, Phoenix, Blur, Stone Roses and Youth Lagoon though.

Could you buy all 4 Coachella headliners(single weekend) for the price they paid Paul? Enjoy the Veggie burgers.

With P4k and 'Roo lineups known, anyone still think Bjork remains a top 3 Coachella headliner?

Not much on the Bonnaroo lineup that has me jealous. Not much in the way of crazy curveballs and too many of the "usual suspects".

There headliners are only slightly stronger, and Coachella's under card far outweighs that.

it's funny how people think just because Coachella announces their lineup before Bonnaroo that it makes them more creative...it's not like the organizers of roo saw names on the coachella lineup and started scrambling to make those bookings afterwards

It's really not stronger. The headliners are stronger this year but coachella's undercard destroys this one. also with the exception of Tom Petty all the headliners have already played Coachella, and odds are, Mumford & Sons will be Coachella's Friday headliner in 2014.

They would know who's doing both before Coachella announces the lineup.

There's about 10 artists Bonnaroo got that I REALLY wish Coachella got.

    A-Trak
    Animal Collective
ASAP Rocky (Played last year but would have been even better this year)
    Big KRIT
    BJORK
    David Byrne & St. Vincent
    Dirty Projectors
    Holy Ghost!
Kendrick Lamar (Same as ASAP and would definitely have a better slot)
    R Kelly

Overall I think there's still more I like at Coachella but Bonnaroo definitely came through with a sick lineup.

WHY DIDN'T COACHELLA REBOOK A LOT OF THE ARTISTS THEY'VE ALREADY BOOKED IN THE LAST 3 YEARS?

    12/31: Derek Plaslaiko, Dave Aju @ f8
    1/8: Tamaryn @ The Chapel
1/28: Beacon @ The Rickshaw Stop
1/29: Ty Segall, Wand, Cold Beat @ GAMH
2/7: Robag Whrume, Daniel Bell, Sassmouth, The Black Madonna @ Public Works
2/14: Sparks @ Ace Theater Hollywood

People point it out because Coachella booked a few more acts that were a little eye-popping outside of the headliners. Blur (yes, they are a headliner, but still unique considering no other US Fest booked them), Lou Reed, Nick Cave / Grinderman, The Postal Service, Dead Can Dance, Lee Scratch Perry, Violent Femmes and Descendents, just to name a few. That doesn't include the dance card either.

Either way, both have good lineups. I still kick myself for missing 2009 simply because of McCartney. I'd love to venture to the farm for this, but this is just not the year that it happens for me.

The only act's I'm jealous of are Tom Petty, Jim James, and Daniel Tosh. Seriously...how great would a mid afternoon stand up set by Tosh be at Coachella?

McCartney is looking good for OSL so you could always see him there. Probably easier to do than Bonnaroo.

The Bonnaroo lineup is impressive, but I still would take Coachella any day. I always feel like the Bonnaroo lineup plays it safe. Sometimes I just need to rock out to some really loud, fun, punky jams, which Bonnaroo lacks. Give me the YYYs, cloud nothings, social D, & violent femmes!
I'm not going to Coachella for the Lumineers!

bjork is much higher than i would have expected. the strokes were 11th(?) and co-headlined.

Oh, and look: Bjork. So her fans lose analytical skills after reading the first line.
