Tickets for Coachella 2013 never went for big $$ this year so the risk/reward wasn't worth the hassle.

Also your 2009 example took place when single-day passes were still available.
GV we willing to drop mad money on a major act. Those acts(like Stones/Daft etc..) declined Coachella and every other for profit festival.

Friday Coachella 2009 with Paul would not have had the same number of people there if only 3 passes were sold rather than single day tickets.

Got a screen of text explaining they were sold out, eventually one refreshed to a proper looking ticket page saying they were sold out, then got proxy server timeout messages. Frontgate's servers will hopefully be ready on Tuesday since it was annoying to get shut out of even the $200 tickets last year.

    It was difficult. http://secretazoolapallol.frontgatetickets.com + a long-ass referral URL:
    lolla.jpg
I snagged one. I also tried on iPhone, but that browser never refreshed until it said "Sold Out".

Yeah, eventually got to a ticket ordering screen after initial text screen that tickets were sold out. Got Unable to find Event message a few times and lots of timeouts. Oh, well, too good of a deal to expect to get it, just annoyed after spending day refreshing page every 2 minutes and actually being on when they went onsale.

The Lolla boards have told me 100 or so in the past. But who knows really. It's all just a way to have everyone staring at their social media sites for days.

Fuck you Frontgate tickets! I'm was on the phone with this dumb cunt right before the website crashed and she's telling me she knows nothing about it. Then she proceeds to tell me that the passes are $335 each. I bought the goddamn things over the phone one year guess not anymore. What a joke. Probably going to be a shitty lineup anyway.

Randomly stumbled onto the Lolla website today to see the $75 tickets for sale, clicked on them selected my 2, then clicked continue and sold out so sad. OSL for sure this year, 2011 seems like such a gloriously long time ago.

Right. I think this is the last year of "Test-mode." Test mode started when wristbands and car camping were added into the regular routine. It's been around long enough for people to get used to it, and the show still, more or less, sold out. They're just feeling the consumer out, as they can afford to do so. I imagine 2014 will be one of the best years since I've been attending. More fine tuned than the past few years. (not to say that over ten years of this hasn't tuned it in pretty tight. Saying that a lot of the bitching you see this year will go to the morons who're bitching about no Daft Punk, as in previous years)

Nah, official response is the lineup will drop next month. I believe in all years past they've revealed it at the same time as on sale or before? Very annoying precedent, especially with the weak smattering of bands so far leaked. Mumford, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, The Killers, The National and Postal Service. The bold text are supposed headliners, The National and PS high bookings. If that's the case, this may be the weakest top I've seen yet. Unless they throw both NIN and The Cure in, I'm already disappointed. If we get one or neither, the mid and undercard better be a hell of a lot stronger than usual or I'm considering saving my money for another festival. OSL seems to be getting better every year...
    2/21 - Skinny Puppy
    5/23-25 - Summer Camp
    7/18-20 - Pitchfork Music Festival
    8/1-3 - Lollapalooza

That is so true. Chicago alone had around 4 electronic music oriented festivals, all popping up in the last couple years.

North Coast in 2009, Spring Awakening in 2012, now EDC Chicago. There was even another big one that got canceled, I can't remember the name of it. I can't help but feel there's going to be some burnout over the next few years with only the strongest surviving, but perhaps that's just my hope.

I feel like Lolla has been going downhill since 2010. Every time they have a good chance to book someone solid, they slide on it. I'd pay higher ticket prices if it meant better acts, but if they just keep booking the same bullshit bands I can't justify spending even the 200-230 they are asking for GA.

Looks like we're stuck in a time warp of 2009-2010.

    Phoenix - 2010
    Mumford and Sons - 2010
    The Killers - 2009
    The National - 2010
    Vampire Weekend - 2009
    2/21 - Skinny Puppy
    5/23-25 - Summer Camp
    7/18-20 - Pitchfork Music Festival

There are too many damn electronic festivals in Chicagoland. It's maddening.

Rub it in about 2008... I only started to go to Lolla in 2009. Missed Lolla's best year. I agree that the headliners have gotten bad. I enjoyed Soundgarden in 2010, and the Jack White/Black Sabbath made me hopeful for future improvements. Jack White finishing off the festival was one of my favorite shows last year.

I suppose I'm just going to be stuck going to Coachella every year. I can't see C3 improving if they screw up this year. Two steps forward, two steps back.

Just used my Marriott points to book my hotel for Lolla, thinking NIN and The Cure would headline. Then this shit about Dumford & Sons, The Killers and other "headliners" I won't even be seeing at Coachella? Guess there's still hope for OSL, TI and FYF.
