This sounds about right. that's where NIN was back in 2008. I still remember that show like it was yesterday. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Last time I was at this festival in 2008, I think "sold out" capacity was 75,000. Grant park was literally packed for both Radiohead and RATM. How did they expand the capacity to 100,000 now???

Or are you talking about the stage where Foals played in 2008...still doesn't make sense that they expanded the place by 25,000 each day!

I still don't see how they could fit that many people in there now! It must be miserable walking from opposite side of the park...

they also added 'the grove' straight north of perrys which holds about 5k. traveling from one side to the other is fine as long as you avoid perrys and any grove clustefuck such as gaslight anthem or fun..

It's really not that bad. But instead of avoiding the north-south traffic you gotta think about the east-west traffic too. Esp between the south stages and perry's.

If Coachella got NIN, and the Cure I would've been much happier. Coachella has a fabulous undercard, but for the price we pay now (car camping prices sky rocketed, and they increased ticket prices by quite a bit), I expect a completely well rounded line up. The headliners at Lolla this year are sad. Blur, Stone Roses are not headliners. Phoenix headlined Lolla and did a great job, but they're not Coachella quality headliners. And RHCP has headlined every festival for the past 3 years and its getting old.

I would've been much happier if it was Blur, Stone Roses, NIN, and Cure at the top of the roster. Or at least Daft Punk in place of someone else. Meh, I get to see all of my friends and have a great time so its okay, but the headliners this year are a dissapointment. I'd probably be less dissapointed if I could afford both festivals but I cannot this year. I usually go to Lolla and Coachella. I actually find the crowd at Lolla to be quite a bit nicer than the Coach crowd.

When I was at Perry's for Kid Cudi in 2011 there was this young black boy (maybe 15) holding a freezer bag full of ecstasy. He was selling in the open to all these high school kids. He even offered to sell me some. I would have taken him up on the offer if it weren't so late on the last day of the festival. But, yes, I felt like a grandpa there, and I'm not even that old. And I almost got into a fight with a kid who was tripping hard (literally and figuratively) all over everyone. Douche city.

Yes, and walking with beer is absolute freedom. Got my Friday pass and hoping to buy a 3-day wristband from someone closer to August. The Cure in Grant Park doesn't get any better (except for NIN in Grant Park). Lolla is a close second to Coachella, but something about our desert festival that no one else can beat.

No shit, right? He was leaning against a tree, lazily tossing the bag up and down in his hand like a softball. I told him to be careful, but he didn't seem worried one bit. Probably was bunk anyway.

I've read of an instance of someone visiting the park days before the festival, digging and burying vodka so he can retrieve it on the event w/ no hassle. Maybe others have adopted the same method of sneaking their stuff into Grant Park.

This seems more plausible considering the size of the farm compared to the Polo Fields, not to mention that the Polo Fields are more than likely to be monitored than that enormous dust bowl.

how is Lolla sold out? those tix are definitely going to crash. and people think the Coachella headliners are weak. wtf? mumford? the killers? the cure? with rare exception (would've liked NIN, the National and Theivery Corp), the lolla lineup is sub-par.

Eric Church and Mumford sold this thing out. Midwestern people like their country and folksy music quite a bit.
