It's a pretty dumb question. Why do people like a band I don't like?

To be honest, I never "got" Radiohead either. I still don't.

It could just be the fact that I've never taken the time to really listen to them, but the stuff I've heard hasn't really "stuck" with me.

I am curious though- everyone on the boards seems to be rabid about them. Can someone give me recommendations of where to start?

(I felt the same way about Arcade Fire pre-Coachella last year. Luckily some of you guys helped me out and I familiarized myself with enough of their stuff to end up making their set one of my favorites of the festival. Hopefully it pays off that well again!)

I doubt many will agree with me, but I say start with In Rainbows. It's very accessible and very "Radiohead," if that makes sense. After you familiarize yourself with the band and their sound, then start back in the mid 90s with the Bends or Ok, Computer and work forward as their sound developed. Again, this may draw criticism, but Kid A or Amnesiac, though exceptionally brilliant, can be a bit difficult for new listeners. I certainly had trouble with Kid A when it came out, and was not until college that it clicked for me.

But really, you can start anywhere because their catalog is pretty fucking stellar. Except Pablo Honey, that's a real weak spot.

The Glastonbury 2003 bootleg is what got me into them.

OK Computer is the one which got me into Radiohead. If you like the experimental/electronic aspects of that album, you should be fine with the shift in approach they take on Kid A, et. al.
