Front Gate taking action against scalpers (sort of)

Up until now, Front Gate was NOT enforcing their 2-per-person rule, provided you made different Front Gate accounts to order tickets.

Today Front Gate has retroactively canceled many orders that exceed 2 tickets. It is not clear what criteria they are using to determine this.

You are over the limit of passes allowed per customer for Coachella. Your initial order of 2 passes are still valid, but any orders over that amount have been voided and fully refunded. Also, if you purchased over the limit of 8 shuttle passes, any additional shuttle passes have been voided and refunded.

I should add that I contacted another friend today who also bought 4 tickets, and he told me that his are still intact.

The friend who got that e-mail checked and indeed, his second order has vanished.

I got the exact same email today informing me 3 of our tickets were canceled and being refunded. I used my FrontGate credentials to purchase 5 tickets using 3 different credit cards with different billing address per the terms of purchase rules. FrontGates crappy backend data system now registers all those purchases having the same billing address even though all of the purchase verification emails we recieved each had different credit card and billing addresses listed. If I had just logged on with other peoples Front Gate credentials instead of reusing my credentials this wouldn't have happened and now we've got 3 people who are going to have to buy tickets in the aftermarket from scalpers which is exactly what they're trying to stop. What a crappy system they've got.

I tried everything to prove to them that our purchases were valid per the terms listed. I even spoke to Eric, a manager at FrontGate, he just kept saying they can cancel purchases any time for any reason.

It was clarified before the May pre-sale that as long as you had 2 different cards with 2 different names the address could be the same.

What if my room mate and I both want to buy a pair of passes and have the same billing address?
As long as the two orders have two different names and two different credit cards, the same billing address will be ok in this situation.

That's actually a good question. I doubt they opened up a sale again for the canceled tickets.

And it would seem a bit self-defeating for the company to just remove them from the ticket pool, though I guess they could do so if there aren't that many they've canceled.

My guess is that they're making them available for internal purchase within Front Gate or Goldenvoice, or whatever.
