Appears to have leaked 2 months early.
Pretty average album. Not a significant step forward.
this is just a web rip, right? Does anyone have a SFW link to share? I want to listen here at work but all my trackers are blocked.
It's a transcode, and it's pretty standard fare from Phoenix. Just like all their other albums, there are a few really good songs, a few clunkers, and a few songs that fall under the "take it or leave it" category.
an appropriate album cover; just easy breezy sweet fruitiness. Nothing hard to swallow on the album, whether that serves the album well or makes it pastiche is up to you i suppose.
Listening to it right now. The Entertainment single grew on me and I hope the same happens for track 2-4 because i didn't dig them the first time around. Bankrupt onwards is pretty good though I can see this being pretty amazing on the main stage. I'm sure they have some cool production for us as well.
Chloroform has single written all over it. Like the record a lot so far. It has that Scarface/Vice City thing going on
I cant stop listening to The Real Thing
Been through it 4 times now while planning out some stuff for my trip and reading stuff here. It's such a summer record, and I say that at 2:33am in bed with it 5 degrees outside.
its ok, the single isnt anything special, everything up until Don't is very forgetable, and everything after too, classic phoenix, more musical hooks than lyrical ones, cant see any big sing alongs happening to any of this.... in no way are phoenix good enough or big enough to headline
... on the same day the new Kate Nash record dropped, and shes doing a bikini-kill-goes-pop thing, which sounds amazing... i really cant even imagine coming back for more of this phoenix record, only reason ill give it a chance is because i may end up catching them in the polo fields
Blur, The Stone Roses, Japandroids, Modest Mouse, Tegan & Sara, Passion Pit, Metric, Youth Lagoon
The XX, Postal Service, Biffy Clyro, Sigur Ros, New Order, Two Door Cinema Club, Franz Ferdinand, Guards
Vampire Weekend, The Faint, Dinosaur Jr, Cloud Nothings, The Oh Sees
Definitely what I was feeling too. Although there wont be as many singles as their last album, I think that this is a stronger overall effort with better production. With that being said, Im really looking forward to hearing this at Coachella with a massive soundsystem and visuals.
this album is the titties for sure
After listening to this album a few times now, I can see it's pretty much par for the course for Phoenix. I also think it will translate well to the polo fields, and as a fan I'm looking forward to it.![]()
Coachella: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 W1, 2013 W1 & W2
Anyone know where I can find it? Seems like I missed the boat on the last link that got posted. I'll keep searching.
Such a nice summer album. I can pretty much listen to Trying to Be Cool straight through to the end of the album on repeat.
Nothing amazing but when has Phoenix ever been? It's going to be such a feel good show on Saturday night. Stoked.
