You would think you want to release it by March so that your fans would know the songs. No one wants brand new songs from a headliner that no one knows the words to so every just stands quietly.

The billboard article states that they completed four songs as of january 2012. I'm sure they had finished the rest of the tunes over the past year. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced more tour dates or a definitive release date for the album or a single within the next week.

These are dates to get PR-buzz going for the upcoming release, most bands do this. But because of the increase in popularity since the last album,
I guess they feel they can get away w/ more than a handful of dates. It's not a tour yet (it would be an insult to the middle and east portion of NA to call it that ).

Tool 2006 had them play before the album was out. Interpol 2007 was them subheadlining MONTHS before their album came out.

It would be a ballsy move for a Coachella headliner to challenge the short attention span of the lamestream masses and play the majority of an unheard album. But then again, it wouldn't hurt France's image management to have cultural ambassadors of such fortitude.

They're thinking people will know the four or five songs they'll play from their first three albums and the five or six songs people will know from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, plus whatever single or advance track that they will release any day now.

Can someone point me in the direction to a really good pro shot concert video of theirs? I like Phoenix, but never really saw them live and would like to get an idea of what their show is like. What is it about their live show that makes them deserve top billing? Thanks!!!

And I don't know I think this situation is different than Tool or Coldplay. And I've been to many concerts where new songs are performed. As much as they are cool they are more than likely the weakest part of the show. I remember when Kanye did that E.T. remix or whatever. Everyone at coachella was like "uhhh...is this on MBDTF?"

False. This sounded right to me, so I looked up US chart performance and Tool simply annihilates Phoenix's chart performance. Wolfgang topped out at 37 on the US charts, while tool has had 2 records reach number 1 and 1 record reach number 2. All of Tool's records have gone platinum (Most multiple times) while Wolfgang went gold.
