Thread: MBV as a late add?

  1. #1

Default MBV as a late add?

They just released their new album after 20+ years and fully delivered.
Currently, they're booked in Europe up until March, with nothing in April and Primavera Sound Festival in late May.
Is it possible that an MBV stateside show following the much publicized(and what I'm sure will a be a highly praised)LP is something Goldenvoice has planned as this year's "wow" moment?

They'll probably play a string of US dates at the end of the year and then come to Coachella '14. (hopefully)

I keep seeing the possibility of a late 2013 NA tour being thrown around... Any validity to the statements or just guess work? Either way, the new album is phenomenal!

They really should headline next year, this shit is so fucking magnificent, but we'll see. It certainly ain't gonna sell "Black Keys/KoL/Killers big," there's zero pop appeal, despite all the acclaim. Question is, who the fuck would be willing to play after them next year? Bowie? Daft? Even if those dreams do come true, they'd be closing after the weakest sub, not MBV. Only thing that'd work is a co-headliner, or top sub, spot with Chems closing after. No one else would be able to, or want to, follow them.
No, don't, don't cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.

New album is mindblowing. Would top EVERYONE on the lineup by far, imo

regardless of how good the album is they'd still be late night in a tent.

No way they would that much of a downgrade from their nighttime mainstage set last time.

I can see them headlining if they played with Daft Punk...

Would they have to play unopposed?

I think GV had noise complaints from neighbors after 2009, though I also thought the Chem brothers were similarly loud and later in the night.
