the ball thing did take 20 min
Jen would be the authority on what's nearby. I'll check with her. There are a bunch of great places to drink in the area, though, so even if Suntan (I'm pretty sure it's actually San Tan but am not positive) isn't close, there are a variety of other options.
Yeah, that's pretty curious. I'm guessing they decided they could draw bigger crowds by being in downtown Phoenix, especially by partnering with the Crescent Ballroom and hosting the afterparties there. The Crescent has sold out so many shows in the short period of time its been around and has always been very well attended at every show I've been to, and that's held true on nights when we were just there to drink in the lounge.
We were considering going on Saturday but the band that most interests me is Heartless Bastards and we saw them at the Crescent last year, and the other major act that caught our attention that day is the Roots, who will be at Bestival, which is going to cost us quite a bit of money. So we're going to pass.
Janelle Monae, Spiritualized, Loco Dice, Cloud Nothings, Paul Kalkbrenner, Blur, El-P, Kurt Vile, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Moby, Grizzly Bear, The Shouting Matches, Four Tet, Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Savages, Jessie Ware, Booka Shade.
Did anyone catch the Hyundai commercial w/ the Lips? That was interesting.
