I'm a legitimate fan of the Dogblood EP so this set is a little disappointing.

Oh, come on. Dropping a Noisia remix of Prodigy's "Smack my bitch up?" you really can't get much more inventive than that.

The Ultra visuals were trippy. I caught myself, sober watching on YouTube, zoning out on them.

I enjoyed what I heard.. sure it was all over the place but the songs chosen were pretty fun and boys noize had some good build ups in there.

Let me guess...The music was too "mainstream" for the coachella board members and or had too much energy. Oh darn how dare Skrillex and boys noize make people want to dance! Sorry if there was not enough techno or songs u never heard before. It was Ultra and they will also be at Coachella.. its the type of crowd and todays youth that does not understand. If they played a bunch of dubfire people would be walking out in droves!

no, as you stated, it was all over the place. i'm not coming to hear someone spastically skip around an iTunes playlist.

This is where I stand with Dog Blood.

If you're going to play tracks with similar styles to BN and Skrill then fine, but don't fucking drop Disclosure in the middle of a set filled with Brostep, Electro House, and Trap.

I agree it def would have been nice to hear stuff that sounded like the music they produced for their EP. My guess was that Dogblood would be an act that was different than most of the Djs out there. From what I heard this is not the case. Not a horrible selection of songs but they still feel the need to feed the general public what they want to hear instead of exciting new sounds.

    "Dog Blood – Ultra Worldwide – 5:00 p.m.

Limited in the amount of time they can practice as Dog Blood, Skrillex and Boys Noize have some kinks to work out in their new collective. Skrillex is currently able to pack the largest of venues, but Dog Blood is far from a Skrillex project; at most, 20% of the Dog Blood performance Sunday sounded anything like a Skrillex set. Drawing extensively from rave techno, the project keeps it at an energetic four-on-the-floor with subtle elements of breakcore, but every few moments Boys Noize would pass over the headphones for Skrillex to cue his Jump-Up dubstep. The duo had one of the best transitions of the weekend, Fatboy Slim’s “Kalifornia” into Boys Noize’s own “XTC”, but on numerous occasions there were flaws when the two would bounce back and forth in the mix.

As Skrillex roots himself futher into club-culture, and out of the rock mentality, it will be interesting to see how he continues to develop collaborations. Saturday evenings’ Alvin Risk, Skrillex, and Porter Robinson 45-minute b2b2b mix to close out the OWSLA stage was unexpected, and probably wouldn’t have been possible during the early stages of Skrillex’ button-pushing endeavors."

    - CoS's take. Seems reasonable enough to me.

Great EP, garbage performance at Ultra. Again, how the fuck Boys Noize isn't on the bill solo is really beyond me...

I don't even know why he praised that transition, it wasn't "the best," all they did was backspin the track to transition out of it.

I know right? Why would he feel the need to mention that?

I bet Prydz's set had 20 transitions that were more impressive than that.

I thought their set was pretty fun from Ultra, will definitely go see them to get pumped up. (Plus watching it you could tell Boys Noize was doing a lot of everything)

Prydz's transitions are seamless as fuck. I've seen him 3 times, and every time I get completely lost and can't even recognize how many tracks he has played.

    It could've been worse.

They played songs from their EP, a new remix, 3 new dog blood tracks, stuff off of OSWLA, stuff that BN produced for other artists, a new jacques lu cont track off his upcoming album under the alias Traques, a bunch of commercial stuff, and a few out of left field. I think they strayed away from any BN material because he played a live set the day before.

In the end I hope it was just pandering to Ultra crowd and we get something different.

You say that with the conviction of someone who thinks that the Sahara tent on a Friday night will be compromised of a different crowd than what was at Ultra. That's cute.

I agree somewhat regarding BN doing it for the money, but did anyone else notice BN's sound changing a bit? Some of the tracks in his new album are a bit more "Skrillex-y" (I don't know what they're calling it, complextro?)
