It is would be an investment at $200. Make sure you keep it nice so you use it more than once.

These run on 3 AAA batteries and you can't beat them for $5.75. They are surprisingly bright:

I have 2 coleman EZ ups with the LED lighting systems and about 500' of solar string lights and several japanese solar lanters to provide light and ambience. I also have a coleman lantern to provide light elsewhere in camp and since the panels come off individually they are perfect for those late night trips to the porta potties.

I have a solar set up to recharge all the power packs and batteries that I use to charge during the day so that they
re ready for use every night.

yes, I bought them from amazon.

these aren't very bright and I haven't been impressed with the light inside. it's just too direct and makes more of a spotlight beneath the lantern rather than the ambient lighting I wanted: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but these were much better! they are larger and the lighting is perfect! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I looked into the coleman canopy w lights mostly for convenience but I can't really shell out $200 when I already have an EZ up. Is my best bet to get LED battery string lights or LED pathway lights? Last year our battery lanterns sucked and we were in the dark.

pathway lights didn't work well at all and they are easy for people can take them pretty easily. string lights provide more light than you would expect, but the white LEDs would be better than multicolored. I have 300' of white and then another 200' of multicolored to mix in. I'd get the solar over battery powered since they aren't much more and they're much more convenience. I just put the panel thingy on top of my canopy and forget about it until monday.

Wow, can I camp with you ... I read in the reviews you really are not suppose to use the EZ in the rain. Have you done this? If you can't, that would be a drag to say the least. Not in Coachella usually but ....

Can PF or does anyone know if the floating fire things are OK, inside, camping ? tnx ...

we're weekend 1, sorry Ron! it did well in the rain we had last year but I haven't used it in extended weather situations. it seems like it would be fine though. it's a pretty nice canvas material.

EL wires! I bought 3 of these and they look pretty cool (even though the purple is a lot more blue than pictured) http://www.ebay.com/itm/221153014813...84.m1439.l2649

Also just bringing a few LED lanterns for main lighting, EL wires are just for ambiance

I have these. They're bright and last a long time. Just hang them around the canopy.

Do you need to plug the EL wire into anything like some sort of battery pack?

It says in the name that it is battery operated so I would assume you just put batteries in and go.

Yeah, there's a battery pack for two AAs with a button that switches the light between 4 settings: off, on, slow blink, fast blink. A few of the pictures show the wires with the battery pack.

ZZZ I would have thought you knew all kinds of info on this subject. The Roo and BMan boards have tons of links and info because it seems Neon is bigger there than Coachella in general .....

What color do you have? And is 1 string of lights efficient enough to light a single campsite or would you recommend 2+?
