My favorite moment was when I overheard two girls as they walked into the VIP saying this, "OMG it's all middle aged people here!!!"

I was raised in Napa Valley, and a lot of the complaints I've heard in this thread are what I was expecting. There are a lot of rich white folk that feel super entitled.

I didn't get to go because I'm in college now and too far away to justify the trip and the cost of the festival.

With that said, I'm surprised that this festival wasn't a complete disaster. But they should really move it away from mother's day, because that is a big weekend for tasting rooms.

Don't know if you guys have been following this, but Bottlerock is getting used.

    http://napavalleyregister.com/news/l...9bb2963f4.html

And I'm surprised it's the bus company, because they still haven't paid their employees. So this will only get worse.

I wonder if this jeopardizes the festival for next year.

One of the comments on the article, from a Pollstar employee:

"Wondering where the money went from Bottle Rock? Deep pocket investors Royce Jason and Jason Johnson from Deville Enterprises were paid. Now Jason Johnson just posted on Facebook that he's flying to Omaha to pick up his new Viper.

Looks like Bottle Rock owes money to a lot of people. This festival seems like a bad joke.

The reviews on yelp are an amazing mix of entitled middle aged wine & cheesers and entitled SF hipsters. Who reviews festivals on yelp anyway?

Bottle Rock Fest organizers have yet to pay any of the union stage workers (owed $630,000), any of the local charities (promised up to $1 million), and also the port-a-potty company ($230,000) and shuttle bus company yet they are still trying to hawk tickets for 2014. What a failure

They must be having a fun time convincing investors that they can turn that 2.5 million debt into profit and not just even more debt.

BOTTLEROCK: Debt Balloons to $8.5 Million
    http://napavalley.patch.com/groups/b...stor-proposals

"Tuesday's proposal, from local investors GSF Partners, is to take over the festival and also pay back $8.5 million in debt to creditors from this year's event, Anderson said. GSF Partners is a group formed by Napa entrepreneurs David Graham, Jason Scoggins and Joe Fischer, Anderson said."

New investors propose a 2014 BottleRock
    http://napavalleyregister.com/news/l...true&cid=print

"To proceed, the group asked the Expo board to move forward with contract negotiations for a multiyear lease with GSF. Ideally they’d like to have a signed contract with the Expo by Dec. 18, the investors said."

"Some of the other changes the group proposed included shortening the event from five to three days, reducing noise levels, increasing ticket sales, eliminating most helicopter noise, moving the date from Mother’s Day weekend to the first weekend in May and ending concerts earlier.

They would also pay off vendors and workers who are owed, according to Graham, more than $8.5 million. This is $3 million greater than the amount of debt that the Register has reported.

The Expo would be paid 100 percent of what it is owed, or $310,938, Graham said. Other vendors would be paid between 50 and 90 percent of amounts due.

GSF Partners has a letter of intent to purchase the BottleRock brand, name and assets, said Graham."

Ending concerts earlier? I was there, the music ended at 10pm. People in Napa are just a bunch of fucking crybabies.

    BottleRock Faces New Deadline

-"Expo directors voted Dec. 18 to move forward with contract approval for GSF Entertainment to present a scaled-down event June 20-22, contingent on an asset purchase agreement between GSF and BR Festivals and payment of a delinquent $311,000 Expo rent, according to the Napa Valley Register.

If GSF fails to pull it off by Jan. 21, the board will consider other BottleRock proposals."

-"AEG Live has joined a joint venture with Jamieson Ranch Vineyards and Madison Capital Management called HorsePower Entertainment that has asked for a chance to submit its own proposal."

They just need to get this settled and get a good lineup out. I'm ready to go back again. Was actually listening to my RNDM bootleg today, made me miss the festival.

Yeah, from following this it seems like the end result will be an event...and I think the condensed version they're proposing works better anways.

Napa in June will get toasty, but I'm up for doing it again.

Edit: just read that June 20-22 will also be when NASCAR goes back to Sears Point...so if those are the dates that could make getting a room/making the drive tougher.

BottleRock Napa Valley Back for Real, Announces 2014 Festival Dates

We told you recently that the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival -- which arrived in its first year with a big, multi-stage lineup, some logistical headaches, and a pile of unpaid debts -- might be returning in 2014. This morning, it became official. A new group of investors calling itself Latitude 38 Entertainment has purchased the BottleRock name, and signed a deal with Napa officials to hold a multi-stage festival this May 30-June 1. But just how similar it will be to last year's event?

If the lineup is good, I'll be there....but no idea what to expect lineup wise, similar to last year (would be cool), or totally different and shitty? Time will tell...

2014 lineup will be announced friday. If you can read anything into the tweets they have been making expect more country on the lineup this year.

    from their facebook earlier

Flint Park: So I have been looking around at all the neighboring states big cities and I think the line-up will contain some of the following (these bands have nothing going on on Bottlerocks dates):
The Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Beck, Aloe Blacc, and Pearl Jam
from Sasquatch (plus some relatively unknown bands on the under card):
    Foster the People
    Neko Case
    Violent Femmes
    Portugal the Man
    Cold War Kids
    City and Colour
    Rodriguez (Friday only)

BottleRock Napa: Hey Flint Park! Did you decide to get your early bird tics? Just curious. We're SUPER excited to announce the lineup this Fri. Part of the issue is that a lot of bands are contractually obligated to NOT announce any festivals/venues within a few months of a performance date that was previously booked. For example, bands performing at Coachella can't announce that they'd be at BottleRock until after 4/21 when Coachella happens (clearing throat) which means that we can't announce our entire lineup this Fri. That said, I have to admit that you've made some very astute observations...
Friday - OutKast / The Replacements / The Afghan Whigs / Shlohmo / GOAT / Flatbush Zombies / Glitch Mob / John Spencer / DJ Falcon / The Bots
    Saturday - QOTSA / NAS / CHVRCHES / Temples / Mogwai / Warpaint / DARKSIDE / Ty Segall / Graveyard / Carbon Airways
    Sunday - Beck / Disclosure / Motorhead / Little Dragon / Trombone Shorty / Frank Turner / Bombino / Bad Manners / J. Roddy / Scuba

Some promising names on there...but "bands performing at Coachella can't announce that they'd be at BottleRock until after 4/21"?

I do remember reading Dave Grohl had said something last year about playing in 2014 (when he was screening Sound City)...wasn't sure if that would change with new management.

Sounds like a lot of bullshit since a ton of Coachella bands have Bay Area shows already scheduled. Seems like fucking clown shoes. I wouldn't mind checking this out, for a day at least, but it seems like they are already screwing the pooch. If this is where the Bay Area Outkast show will be, and we will not know until April 21st, thats a shame.

Add Keep Shelly in Athens to that list.

For the sake of it, if we went by rumors, logic, and potential "likes" or "retweets", then a current possible lineup could look like:

    Foo Fighters
    OutKast
    Eric Church
    Beck
    Band of Horses
    Imagine Dragons
    Gin Blossoms
3 Doors Down (playing same fest with Gin Blossoms just a day before/after Bottlerock)
    The Fray
    De La Soul
    Spin Doctors
    Matisyahu
    Keep Shelly in Athens

Not every act at Coachella has an exclusive or radius clause in their contract.

Sure, but a ton of bands from Chella play the Bay Area before, during, and after the two weekends. Even headliners, like Phoenix last year. It just seems like an excuse for the promoters to try and boost ticket sales with the promise that there will be a lot of large adds coming in late April. The whole situation seems suspect with what went down last year and how they are promoting it this year. I wouldn't buy a ticket ahead of time.
