The festival will sell out, and people will watch Blur/The Stone Roses because they're at the top of the bill. It will work out just like only selling three day passes and making the festival two weekends worked out. Friday will be the day where Goldenvoice has a non-traditional headliner from now on.

Janelle Monae, Spiritualized, Loco Dice, Cloud Nothings, Paul Kalkbrenner, Blur, El-P, Kurt Vile, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Moby, Grizzly Bear, The Shouting Matches, Four Tet, Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Savages, Jessie Ware, Booka Shade.

Friday headliner is fine. Phoenix could use some help and RHCP, as good as they once were, just don't have to it factor this year.

but if I wanted to buy into the BS, I would say:

"Sunday needs the most work. If they add someone it should be to Sunday and I would say Tool. Maynard is there anyway so his BS wine-tending absence theory is out. We already know Tool is playing Ozzfest Japan, so it's not like they refuse to do any shows this year. They are an LA band so they shouldn't be too tough to book. I say end the festival with Tool / RHCP allowing the first two third-time headliners on the same night (and both LA based bands). It wouldn't even take up that much space on the poster, which I'm sure is their primary concern."

In any case, it won't happen and doesn't need to.
I appreciate the novelty of this idea but I'd agree its BS.

As much as I would love to see Daft Punk get added to saturday night, I just don't see it happening. Due to their Demand, Daft Punk would have to play to a slient polo grounds, yet thats impossible considering curfew and the shear volume of bands on the poster.

What about Frusciante reuniting with RHCP for the final 2 shows at coachella? Would that be completely out of the realm of possibility?

Stone Roses debut is a top 75 all time lock. I personally like it better than White Album Abbey Road and most overrated album in rock history Sgt Peppers, but not as much as Rubber Soul or Revolver. Regardless of where it stacks up vs. Beatles fact that were even having this discussion supports its status as a true classic.

Plus years from now I think a lot of us will be talking about that glorious Brit Pop night in 2013 just like we talk about Kraftwerk into Portishead In 2008.

If there is an add...it will be Saturday.

That video shows that Blur has the ability to play a headliner slot, doesn't really help the point of them deserving it.

You guys have got it all wrong. They should be looking for a Saturday headliner. Phoenix should not be headlining Coachella. I'm glad they are in a way, because I won't have to spend much of my day camping out at the main stage like I did the past 2 years for Radiohead and Arcade Fire.

And the Chili's are sloppy 2nd's from last years festivals (Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo). Not Sunday headliner worthy.

To me Blur is the most interesting headliner they booked this year. If they added a late headliner, I would hope it would be for Saturday or Sunday instead. On Saturday, I could see them throwing New Order in the late night special spot they have reserved for EDM groups like Tiesto, Chemical Brothers and Swedish House Mafia over the past 3 years.

To those who say Queens of the Stone Age isn't worthy of a headlining slot at a major US festival, think again. No band deserves it more in my opinion.

No. Please do not count on this, because it isn't happening.

They may be releasing material around the time of Coachella, but the band certainly would have known that before turning them down. The last time they released an album, they waited a year to tour (debuting at Coachella). Once the album is done, they still have to work on a live mix, talk with concept artists and lighting artists, actually build the set, rehearse, etc. They aren't ready. If they were, it sounds like they'd be on the poster.

I understand how kids in their late teens/early 20's who've been catered to with the likes of MGMT, Guetta, SHM, etc in the past few years could think this year's billing is weak.

Completely agree here. "Hey guys, lets sell some tickets to a concert series, where nobody knows who's is playing! Then, when we announce the lineup and its questionable, the stupid hippies wouldn't be able to unload them."

Presale was nice last year, but I feel somewhat jipped this year.

The likelihood of a last minute headlining addition is NIL. Why? They've made their money already, why would they pay another headliner once the venue is sold out? Just to be nice to the fans?
Figure out a way to enjoy whats there, cuz it ain't gonna change, unless someone backs out, AND returns their contract money.

should have been Blur*Phoenix on Friday, Shit Peppers on Saturday, and a strong Sunday headliner. Not happening though. Whatever.

I would rather see Junior and Senior headline than The Stone Roses. They were really fun at Chella in 04.

Maynard only has to be away from his Arizona vineyard for 6-7 hours if he had a private plane, most of that potentially being at night.

gotta admit, I thought wknd 2 would be sold out by now, chances for a lineup addition now at a solid 1/100

Kraftwerk and Portishead in '08 was also the year they late-added Prince to headline over them both. Not saying they're going to do that again this year necessarily, just making a note.

While I don't think there will be a headliner addition, I also don't think the fest selling out precludes such an addition.

Coachella has future ticket sales to think about, and if the other fest lineups come out and coach looks stupid people wont buy presale next year and they will think less of Coachella in general.

Coachella's reputation is worth far more than any one years ticket sales.

I hear there will be a late add-on: LMFAO reunion show. That way we get our EDM headliner, too, right? The weekend is saved.
