"FanGraphs’ Bradley Woodrum calculates that the Cubs’ projected win total is in the 77 to 79 win range. Further, the calculations show that the Cubs have a 3% chance of reaching 91 wins, which is a pretty easy proxy for a playoff team."

    Sooooo you're saying there's a chance!!!

I'm ready for a 75-80 win season for the Indians this year. Still don't have enough pitching unless Bauer becomes amazing right away and Scott Kazmir makes the roster and returns to his old form.

Go Dodgers. High hopes all around, please don't become the laughing stock of the National League. In the AL, I'll definitely be paying closer attention to the A's after last year.

I love how the guys at MLB Net just keep stroking all the teams that are spending hundreds of millions of dollars and keep discounting the teams that have youth, hunger, and whatever that intangible thing is that makes champions. Frankly I hope against hope for a matchup of the two most unexpected contenders. Too bad my beloved A's are no longer an UNEXPECTED contender

I can't stand what Anaheim has become. Them Pujols and Hamilton contracts ain't gonna end well.
And without a bullpen, they'll limp along. Shoulda never got rid of Rodney.

    A-Rod more like A-Frod.

I wish baseball would adopt the NBA amnesty law. Man would I love to be able to get rid of A-Rod at this point.

I retract this statement. This Indians off-season has been relatively impressive and with Francona running the ship, I think 85 wins is achievable.

    A lineup of

    CF - Michael Bourn
    LF - Michael Brantley
    SS - Asdrubal Cabrera
    C- Carlos Santana
    RF/1B/DH - Nick Swisher
    1B / DH - Mark Reynolds
    2B - Jason Kipnis
    3B - Lonnie Chisenhall
DH / RF - Drew Stubbs

Looks a whole lot better than the shit they have fielded the last few years.

It all depends on the pitching staff with this squad.

I hope they don't have to rely on Stubbs too much. The guy's speedy, but jesus he strikes out a lot. I've been a Reds fan for years and he was a constant source of contention among fans. He had flashes of brilliance but zero consistency.

Maybe it's because I'm a perpetual optimist when it comes to the Red Sox, but that actually looks pretty good to me. As long as they don't set any more single-season injury records this year and their pitching doesn't bottom out again I think they'll be very competitive in 2013.

Not paying much attention to the off season of Cleveland at all, this is a pretty solid line up. Obviously not the best but Cleveland fans have to be excited for this.

You haven't see anything till you see how many times Reynolds whiffs. He set a MLB record for strike outs in a season. Then broke his own record the next year.

Stubbs struck out more than Reynolds last year. He also threatened that record two years ago (Adam Dunn fell one short last year).

Reynolds strikeout rate has decreased slightly since joining the AL. Not much, but slightly. Also, given that the Indians didn't have a single player reach 20 HR's last season, I'll take Reynolds' power. I'm sure he'll frustrate me, but you're talking about a team that had Casey Kotchman playing first base last season.

The strikeouts are going to be bothersome. Reynolds, Stubbs, Swisher and Bourn all strike out a bunch, but when you compare it to what I have watched the past two seasons, I'll take the strikeouts as long as the production comes with it.

Enjoy Bourn. He's the only player that left Atlanta this offseason that Im actually going to miss. His speed on the base path as well as his glove in the outfield are going to be a huge addition for the tribe.
