Can someone post some live performances where they aren't playing in a studio please? i need to be convinced this isn't going to suck, in the few times i've seen them live, its never translated for me and i've always left very disappointed (admittedly I hate Ben Gibbards voice). This is an amazing headphone/driving in your car album, but i'll be damned if I've heard of anyone who's seen them live being blown away, or not disappointed even...
those who have seen them live several times, please correct me if i'm wrong. Saturday night is just too packed with amazing shit to walk away from another disappointing Postal Service show, reunion or not.

"Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley fame will accompany Gibbard and Tamborello."
Confirmed
His voice is an acquired taste. He sings in such a strange, sincere, kind of whiny tone.
upcoming
Bjork doing Biophilia, 6/2 Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA
Outside Lands, 8/9-11 Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA
--almost, almost, almost the real thing
Gonna see them at the Barclays. Swag
I'ma ball at the mall shuttin' down the sea wall
Tried to get tickets for the SLO show, forgot about the onsale and by 45 minutes later it was fully sold out. Luckily the Davis show went on sale an hour after the SLO show and I got two tickets to that, but it was fully sold out a couple of minutes later. Pretty crazy.
Their new song premiered this morning. What does everyone think?
definitely one of my must sees. which is funny really, if you think about it, if DCFC were playing coachella, they'd be in smaller sized letters on the poster. The reunion and their sound jsut lend themselves better to something like this i guess. i've seen DCFC 3x, this will be awesome.
I like it

I love everything about this band, and I'm glad they've finally gone from "guilty pleasure" status to "pleasure."
But doesn't that note he bends all bluesy-like on the chorus just sound so lame? In a recent interview, Gibbard says that he thinks that people are much more excited about the idea of a second Postal Service album than they actually would be with a second album. I bet he's right.
1 Coachella before I got sober, 7 since. I support both versions. If you wanna do the sober version, roll with us:

I waited for my wife to get home before we listened to this. I built up all this anticipation about how interesting and awesome this would be, I put it on and listened and it was a Club 75 experience for me. Vaguely familiar, remniscant of what my mind imagined, but ultimately a let down. I wanted to change the track before it was even done and had to listen to Give Up to get over it.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
I couldn't listen to the whole song.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
It's a song that they need if there gonna do some major touring, pretty much any new music there gonna put out is gonna need to be more upbeat than "Give Up" so their show has more energy. I love The Postal Service but you gotta admit that it wouldn't be hard to pass out to "This Place is a Prison" after a long Saturday.

I think the new song my be better if it was slowed down a tad
Ben knows what he's talking about. Sometimes timing really is everything, and the Postal Service happened when the bridging of IDM and indie rock was a novel thing (and they did it well). Kinda like how the Notwist haven't made any splashes at relevancy since Neon Golden.
what possible reason could you have to have read this and taken time out of your day to respond to it? i was bookmarking for later reading, since i cant watch or listen to shit at my job. secondary motive, postal service nostalgia/excitement.
that said, i agree with you.
Wow, not bad. Does anyone else hear way more traditional synth-pop (almost early Depeche Mode) than anything from Give Up?
