Default Why Phoenix is headlining (with Daft Punk cameo) 2013

Who here was at the 2010 coach and who went to see Phoenix and Hot chip? Remember when Phoenix played without any lights or any of their equipment because it was left back in Europe (the volcano and all). Remember how packed the outdoor stage was? When I left the set a song early, I noticed the crowd went all the way back to the ports.

Now if you take that fervor and excitement from 2010, and you add THIS into the mix. Well then... you've got one of the best headliners in a long time.

Wouldn't you rather wait a year (or two) and get a dedicated set? Seeing Daft come out during Phoenix only provides two things:

    1.) they are alive
2.) you get to take a shitty video, brag to your friends and pretend to be xanman

    Phoenix....Who???

    Don't have the songs.

    Don't have the credentials.

Don't deserve the headline spot. Period.

daft punk doesn't deserve a headlining spot, sorry... they haven't made anything relevant to music since tron and that honestly was extremely mediocre since any producer nowadays could have done that...

As if repeatedly screaming out, "Make some motherfucking noise," is relevant...
Its like the Infinite Monkey Theorem, if you put X amount of monkeys in a room with a typewriter and ask them to give you Shakespeare 99% of them will fling their shit at you while the other 1% will masturbate in the corner.

You're defending something that isn't there, you DO realize that right? You're basing your opinion of some robots who "performed" 7 years ago. How do you even know if they will EVER perform again? Their magic is done, there really isn't anything they could possibly create that could have the same magic as their first albums. It's been so overdone now and music has advanced so much that it will just be white noise... sorry to break it to you! Sure they had their moment but it's over... move on!

they signed to a new label, and that label is gonna try to squeeze as much money as they can, so theyll perform.

wow!!!!! i've said some stupid shit...but this is really really stupid. you obviously don't understand music, musicians, or the fact that Daft Punk is way way waaaaaaaaaaaay more than a fad. I can see how it could seem easy to lump them together with a ton of other artists....but really dude, this is so wrong its insane. They aren't robots first of all..and they are working with some of the greatest studio musicians/producers ever (see: Nathan East, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Paul Williams, hint: they know more about music than you do).....its not by chance, I assure you. People who understand music understand this....

i'm a cunt, but even I know that saying something like "there really isn't anything they could possibly create that could have the same magic as their first albums" is really really dumb. I wont call you any names or anything, but you really need to check your self...or admit that you know nothing about music...or that you were drunk when you wrote this (which i always am when i troll these boards...)

Phoenix was great in 2010. They were great at the Bowl as well. Just don't count on daft punk being there and their performance will meet your expectations.

I'm not holding my breath for Daft Punk at Coachella, but I have a theory. If Daft Punk did show up at Coachella, it wouldn't be for 1 song during the Phoenix encore, as they did in NYC.

Coachella is just as much about the experience as it is about it's image. How do you top the Tupac Hologram news story from last year? With a SURPRISE Daft Punk headlining set. The festival knows they will sell out this year without putting Daft Punk on the line up, so maybe... just MAYBE they left them off the line up so they could generate a huge news story when our robot overlords descend upon the polo fields unannounced.

    October 2 - Beck
October 3-5 - Austin City Limits

Daft Punk costs "millions of dollars"? I know you're exaggerating to prove a point, but, really, add up Daft Punk + 2013 headliners cost and it is nowhere near the cost of 2012's headliners (and surprise guests 50 Cent, Eminem, etc), or 2011, or 2010... you get the idea...

news would be out when the schedule gets announced and there is a 2 hour gap on the main stage saturday night.

it wouldn't be any surprise at that point.

I said I wasn't holding my breath. I'm just putting forth my theory of any possibility of DP being there. They won't be doing a 1 song cameo with Phoenix

I want to see Daft Punk as much as any other fan but can everyone seriously listen to this guy. I don't even give a shit if they are at Coachella or not I never saw them in 2006 but my friends who were there said it was the most amazing thing they have ever seen and that it cant be duplicated. So maybe they feel that way too and don't want to come back. The fact of the matter is if they do tour you can go see them in your hometown and at the most fly to a big city. Until then just shut the fuck up and show a little respect for goldenvoice for putting together this thing for you ungrateful bastards.

I feel the same way. I'd have to see the xx over them as well. The conflicts that day are going to be a nightmare.

The reason this isn't going to happen is that, if you watch the video of them "jamming" together at MSG closely, you realize it sucks. I talked to Guy and Thomas and they agree.
