So no one believes the dude when he says they were in negotiations for months? He did seem a little defensive - talking demographics like Bumblebee and all.
This is like Jane's Addiction bailing them out in 2001. They go to their friends in times of need. Don't we all.
But yes, I'll be with Nick.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Pearl Jam
Green Day
Sound City
I also find RHCP to be a toss up between Killers/Muse as well.
Saying that RHCP was somehow the only choice is a ridiculous statement.
Having Sigur Ros into Bjork one night would have also been a jaw-dropper - even for me.
I'm just happy it wasnt Green Day.

It was serious. They were in talks up until the middle of last week or so. Got it? I know that for a fact.
Here's some more proof:

Stones wanted to wait until after their shows to get a base price for what kind of money they could make. After taking that into account the negotiations began around the new year and lasted a couple weeks. There are a lot more details I am not going to get into because it's not my place.

RHCP were booked a year ago.
then how do you explain the article http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...-wire-20130125
Is that all the Rolling Stones are about these days is money? I mean these fucks will be buried in solid gold caskets for christ's sake. They've got enough money to make the next 20 generations of their family millionaires. I'm was really hoping they would do it but now I'm actually glad they're not if thats all they're really about.
The answer I am going to go with is a lot of bullshit filler to make people pay attention to something trivial.
I mean, it's fucking Rolling Stone. Nick, really? You're gonna cite RS?
Pearl Jam could've been booked for less. Employ a fucking focus group next time if you're going to book-end a lineup like that with the equivalent of sonic shit a year in advance.

Should have got Metallica.
I'd take Metallica over RHCP. And I don't even like Metallica. I just know I would be more entertained.
I agree. As great as all the bands I saw were the last 3 years at Coachella, each weekend felt like it was building to a brilliant and unpredictable main stage conclusion. Gorillaz, Kanye, and Dre and Snoop were all epic. It isn't even a knock on the Chili's to say that they won't be able to measure up to those performances...they just won't.
