it was pretty quiet where i was at OSL...didn't have any issues with people talking.

SO.FUCKING.EXCITED. for this set. I would be perfectly fine if they headlined Saturday and the festival was done after.

Yaaaay! I've turned down my chances to see Sigur Ros a couple times and I kick myself all the time for it. Gotten to see Jonsi twice though (and got to meet him the second time- he gave me a hug!) but this is a dream come true

same at lolla. i was worried the sound would be fucked, but it was excellent, and the crowd was very good.

Such reviews are being modest... Hell ya! I want a set as long as Prince's was! Drums drums drums (Also props to Coachella for redeeming themselves with this year's EDM compared to last year's fiasco for the most part)

I saw Sigur Ros last Sunday at the Patriot Center in Fairfax - here's the review I posted:

Sunday night, I witnessed Sigur Ros live for the first time. Before I go any further into detail, let me preface this by saying that I’ve seen a ton of shows, in all sorts of places, venues, and settings. Everyone from friends to idols. Thanks to my job at The Natl, live music doesn’t seem to do much for me the way it used to. It’s not as exciting anymore. It doesn’t have that “bite” anymore because I’m around it so much.

Now with that being said, what I experienced last night was the most intense musical spectacle I’ve ever seen, heard, and most prominently, felt.

It’s hard to convey this experience into words. I’m honestly convinced that I didn’t see a band onstage last night – but rather some sort of entity, presence, or force that knew nothing except the darker ethereal musical compositions they created, which were in turn complimented by the cold presence of their dark silhouettes that stood before us. There were no words said between songs. No conversation. Just sounds being calmly shattered into a blissful journey of sound and poetry that managed to strike nearly every chord of inside of me from start to finish. Throughout the entirety of the show, I could do nothing but stand, completely hypnotized and at mercy to the group. At times I smiled, while at times I cried. The words meant whatever I felt like they meant. Pieces like “Ny Batteri”,” Vaka”, “Saeglopur”, and “E-bow” sent me into whirlwinds of nostalgic emotion that refused to let go, while the vocal harmonies from the string quartet and brass section during the build-up in “Varuo” left me literally shaking. And then there was the thunderous finale of “Popplagio”, erasing the line between tranquility and apocalypse. I went from feeling energetic to depressed to mournful to gleeful to worthless to peaceful, all while possessed by this onstage fury that obliterated all of us in its path. When the lights came on afterward, I couldn’t say anything. I didn’t want to say anything. I was, and still am, catching up to what I had just seen – and I don’t know if I ever will, fully. And I’m totally fine with that.

The only physical memento I walked away with was a setlist with a drumstick taped to it that was thrown to me by a roadie afterward. Everything else is a memory to figure out.
There are instruments, there are singers, there are bands, there are concerts, and there are effects.

    And then there’s Sigur Ros.

    Sunset, please...please.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

i saw them monday.. can't freaking wait to see them again next saturday. absolutely amazing. they have a pretty large stage set up (big screen) for this tour, so i'd be surprised if they are on the outdoor. not impossible though. also, i am 99.9999% sure they will be playing when it is completely and totally dark out. let's just say the opening of their set requires darkness, and would not work at all in any sort of daylight. sunset spot is highly unlikely.

They should play when dark, ideally outside and last act of the day. They are quite, quite stunning, and I know that this will be THE highlight of the festival. Got tix for their biggest UK show in November this year. Stoked.

Pheonix doesn't make much noise booka shade might.I expect a pretty big group to leave the main once they glance over at this happening.

Wrong. Their new album is especially built to pummel festival crowds. And the Main Stage soundsystem is booming as shit. On a pure decibel level, the Gobi pales in comparison. If there's a sound bleed to worry about, it's Phoenix.

New Order vs Sigur Ros is the killer, but pretty sure I'm gonna go with Sigur Ros.

This is where I'm struggling. I have seen Sigur Ros (at Red Rocks, no less, as perhaps the best concert I have ever attended), but I can't resist seeing Sigur Ros' full set again. Bummer, 'cause I really wanted to see New Order this time around.

Good to know! I thought that would be the case for songs like Vaka and Svefn-g-englar Did they start on time? Hoping to catch a little of Richie Hawtin's set before hand but I don't want to miss the beginning. Did the front screen drop during Ny Batteri?

Yeah, I was right up front and it sounded fantastic. The only bleed from Phoenix I heard was in between songs.

They only have an hour here compared to the two at their shows. Half the set would be Glosoli and Untitled 8.
