They're not terrible, but they're not a good fit for Coachella.

    At the Drive-In was fun.

AFI is a great live band indeed, having seen them just last week for the umpteenth time, and their new album is very solid. If this was still 2001, maybe, on the Outdoor or Mojave. But their mid-decade career moves and unfortunate associations with "screamo" have rendered them almost unbookable at this point. Perhaps if they had spent those big label dollars on a more critically satisfying direction.

It's happened on Sunday and Saturday, but most of the NYC events at the Waldorf have been on Monday. Depending on his involvement in the actual Nirvana induction(simple speech vs. superstar extended rehearsals) I think it's pushing his limits. Especially if he's in the middle of launching a new FF album/tour.

I'm not sure what exactly you were expecting ATDI to sound like if not that. Aside from the singer deciding to make his voice ESPECIALLY grating, it was a pretty dead-on performance.

Who knows and who cares. He always had a shrieky voice, that was part of the sound and all, but holy shit he developed a whole new level of horrible shriek-sound in the decade they'd been broken up.

Still, it was enjoyable for four or five songs before I finally couldn't take it anymore.

He looked miserable in every show they did. He seems like a miserable person to work with if he isn't getting his way.
