Around the three minute mark, Muse hint at doing an American festival or two next "spring".

They certainly fit the KROQ headliner demographic that is a staple every year, so if they're announced in January to play, it won't be surprising.

It'll be almost as sensational as wishing your family wouldn't die today, if only for the sake of your birthday. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Besides, Pearl Jam is going to be taking the "dudes with guitars" headliner spot this year, you silly poster.

I think they will either play Roo since they have never played it before or they will headline that LA Rising fest that they played in 2011.

Interesting theory but i have major doubts.

Loved the 3 times I saw them in 2009/2010, but was bored out of my mind at the March 2013 gig I saw 25 feet from the stage. The album didn't connect with their audience.

"spring" could mean Hangout and Sasquatch in mid/late May 2014. Highly doubt they were referring or would play LA Rising in August.

^I kinda agree. It's gotta be either Coachella or Sasquatch they'll play. But even Sasquatch is kinda stretching it.

And also, maybe plans will fall through? I mean for all we know Muse could be only like 75% in, and for some reason they decide not to play it anymore.

Repetition makes boring. Repetition makes boring. Repetition makes boring. Even when I add something new, repetition makes boring. Even when I add something new, repetition makes boring. Muse leaked that they would play a couple 2011 festivals(Lolla/Rising/Outside(?)) in a similar interview in late 2010 or very, very early 2011.

IMO, only a major health issue would kill their plans.

Weirdly, I have trouble calling them a "great" headliner despite being a great band, selling out 3 nights in LA and a strong catalogue. Matt even met his celebrity wife at Coachella 2010.

Muse is probably the most interesting of the KROQ headliners to me. (Muse, The Killers, Coldplay, RHCP, Kings of Leon, Black Keys) I wouldn't be thrilled but wouldn't be terribly bummed if they're a top name on the poster - as long as they aren't the Sunday closer.

If it ends up being Muse and NIN/Depeche Mode, I really hope that third name has some pull...

Muse and Depeche Mode both sold out three nights at Staples Center so they have "pull"

Ok I phrased that wrong - what I meant is exactly that, Southern California has had 6 opportunities combined to see Muse and Depeche Mode (plus DM played Santa Barbara) in the last twelve months, as had most of the country (or just book a flight to Austin).

despite their last two lackluster albums, muse still puts on a helluva live show. their set lists are chock full of older songs (black holes and prior). mr. bee, feel free to chime in with stats regarding old material vs. new during their recent tour.

... and nin has a great new album and a great new tour - would so welcome the opportunity to see them/him live on the polo grounds come 2014.

Give me some examples of artists who have "pull" who haven't played or aren't scheduled to play a show in LA this year. And don't you fucking dare say daft punk

If that "old material" consisted of more than "Plug in Baby" and the same singles from Absolution and Black Holes they've played at every single show since their creation, then yes, Muse might be still worth seeing.

they play plenty of of old material from showbiz and origin: bliss, new born, and citizen erased, sunburn, feeling good, micro cuts and others are still in rotation... Honestly, some of the songs off of 2nd law aren't that bad either. The bass line from panic station is quite catchy, while supremacy is a solid tune all around.
