    This.

Sounds like this year is open to some really great potential headliners. I haven't been too impressed by the last couple of years. That's just me though.

They did a full US tour in 2005 and returned in the spring 2006 for Coachella and a short run of US/Mexico/Canada shows. Total of 8 shows in California.

Your post wasn't clear if 6 California shows in 2013, and Depeche returning to the US in 2014, made them likely or unlikely Coachella headliner.

The more I look at it, Depeche look like a very strong 2014 Coachella candidate and a repeat of their 2006 stateside dates after the 2005 US tour.

    IN/OUT and BILL

    QOTSA - In / Sub
The National - In / Sub
    NIN - In / Headliner
    Depeche Mode - Out
    Atoms for Peace - Out
NMH - In / Fourth Billed
MGMT - In / Third Billed
The Knife - In / Third Billed

I don't even think MGMT will be third billed, dude. They're pretty much going nowhere.

Could Beck possibly be a realistic headliner option? If not, where would he likely be billed should GV book him?

I just don't see Beck headlining a day by himself anymore. I'd imagine he would co headline with sort of an off the wall headliner or someone that may get a backlash from the longtime Coachella crowd. Let's say Coachella did get Timberlake. The poster would look a lot better with Beck as the co headliner.

Nine Inch Nails announced a stadium tour with a Staples date on November 8th. Does that rule them out yet? Or still an extremely likely possibility?

if anything it makes them more likely because Staples is an AEG venue.

if it ends up like this,

    Depeche Mode
    Nine Inch Nails/Atoms for Peace
    Justin Timberlake/Beck

i'll be very fucking happy. unfortunately they are all (minus Beck) doing significant touring this Fall.

If Coachella books Justin Timberlake, he's not co-headlining with anyone. He'd be as big of a name as they've booked in recent years, easily.

If Beck was booked, he'd be second line, maybe third or fourth billed.

I plan to catch his set at Osheaga. He's second billed behind the Cure.

Who knows though, one of two co-headlining scenarios that Coachella has actually had involved an artist as popular as JT.

Interesting. I hadn't even looked at that lineup so I had no idea. I still think he'd be second line at Coachella, but who knows.

Also, Osheaga has a really good lineup this year.

I don't know - I think Timberlake is a bigger draw now than Kanye West was in 2011. You could be right, and it's one of those tired topics that we could debate all day. JT sold just shy of 1,000,000 of his last album in a week, which seems pretty amazing to me for this day and age, but I could be wrong. I just can't imagine someone presently doing a stadium tour co-headlining with anyone.

It is a really great line up. It's particularly good for me because I should be able to see a lot of what I missed at Coachella this year due to conflicts, plus several others. AND THE CURE. Win.
