Do you think that Goldenvoice would already have the headliner's signed and sealed?

actually it says "deep into 2013 and 2014" which means they could very well play their last show at weekend 2 next year.

Avery said it'd be 18 month commitment of touring activity. 1st show is July 2013, which takes NIN through Christmas 2014.

IMO, "final ever NIN appearance" would have zero value in the marketplace so soon after 2009.

This is how the lineup needs to look. Nothing is better then this. You got the most influential punk band in the last 20 years for Friday, the obligatory big name headliner that appears at every festival but this is NIN so it'll be cool anyways, and the mainstream pop act that will be another rare festival performance GV pulls off

    Friday: The National > Foster the People > Blink-182 (headliner) > Deadmau5
Saturday: MGMT > Queens of the Stone Age > Nine Inch Nails
Sunday: Empire of the Sun > My Bloody Valentine > Daft Punk

Blink has been reunited for 5-6 years now. How many North American festivals have they done? I'm well aware of them doing well overseas.

MBV between EOTS/DP is nice bucket of cold water on EDM fans camping out at the mainstage.

Why do so many people anticipate Foster being billed so high in 2014?

Donny & Marie is more a Stagecoach act...

Celine must have a radius clause...

Siggfried & Roy's first show back could be a major headliner.

Here are my guesses and some explanation for them.

Friday: Outkast or Tribe Called Quest. I know they are both hard to get but would be amazing.

Saturday: (reunion headliners) Sonic Youth or White Stripes. I know both have recently broken up but there is hope. Moore and Gordon split but can you see them not being creative together for that long? Jack White in a semi recent interview with NYT stated he wouldn't mind making more music with Meg and continuing on with the White Stripes.

Sunday: Daft Punk (for obvious reason that their album just dropped) or The Prodigy (which I think will benefit the young ones and show them a proper electronic show like DP did so many moons ago.

I dunno just my thoughts. I feel these picks are well rounded with the three major genres represented at Coachella.

Kim and Thurston have done recent interviews and it's pretty obvious there are some major personal issues.

I find the idea of a 40 year Jack White doing the Stripes format show to be curious is good and bad ways. I haven't seen evidence of Meg picking u pa drumstick in 6 years.

Actually Kim has been the only vocal one about the break up. Moore doesn't have anything to say other than he loved what Sonic Youth accomplished.

Your second response is hard to read but Jack White seems super excited if the White Stripes were to get back together again saying he would stay with it forever.

But I do understand the unlikely possibility of either band reuniting. It would be fun though.

    Tribe Called Quest wouldn't headline.

Other than that you'd have two massive reunions (Outkast and the White Stripes) and then the most sought-after festival act on the planet right now. Seems perfectly plausible.

Larry, can you give me a reason why Tribe couldn't headline? That's assuming they can put all their problems aside and reunite. This is from Wiki. Pretty impressive if you ask me and headline worthy imo.

A Tribe Called Quest is an American hip hop group, formed in 1985,[1] and is composed of MC/producer Q-Tip, MC Phife Dawg aka Phife Diggy (Malik Taylor), and DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad. A fourth member, rapper Jarobi White, left the group after their first album in 1991 but rejoined in 2006. Along with De La Soul, the group was a central part of the Native Tongues Posse, and enjoyed the most commercial success out of all the groups to emerge from that collective. Many of their songs, such as "Bonita Applebum", "Can I Kick It?", "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo", "Scenario", "Check the Rhime", "Jazz (We've Got)", "Award Tour" and "Electric Relaxation" are regarded as classics by the hip hop community.

They released thirteen albums between 1990 and 1998; the group disbanded in 1998. In 2006, the group reunited and toured the U.S., and planned to release a new album. The group are regarded as iconic pioneers of alternative hip hop music, having helped to pave the way for innovative hip hop artists.[2] John Bush of Allmusic called them "the most intelligent, artistic rap group during the 1990s,"[3] while the editors of About.com ranked them #4 on their list of the "25 Best Rap Groups of All Time."[4] In 2005, A Tribe Called Quest received a Special Achievement Award at the Billboard R&B Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.[5] In 2007, the group was formally honored at the 4th VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
