It's either Mojave closer, or Outdoor at night...I prefer Mojave (plus sadly I don't think they'd draw a big crowd for the Outdoor Theatre night slot). Just sucks that the Sahara's womp womp could interfere.
Intrigued as to how they would sound live. "Children of the Sun" sounds like it was yanked from the Engelbert catalog. And that's a good thing.
Is there a better setting to experience this band than in the desert with trippy things going on at night?
Really hope they don't conflict with Eric Prydz, Wu Tang, or Parov Stelar
+1 to the Mazzy Star slot. Hopefully DCD doesn't turn it into a snoozefest as did the aforementioned band.
Oh god, someone mentioned the Mazzy Star slot.....
Flashbacks incoming
I have a bad feeling that DCD are going to conflict with one or more of my other very highly anticipated sets of the weekend, probably Prydz, James Blake, and/or Paul Kalkbrenner. Which would really suck. But I'd probably have to go with DCD, as I fully expect them to be my Godspeed set this year, just a jaw-dropping musical experience. Just pure awe.
You don't know what's in store, but you know what you're here for . . . Even though, you don't roll, trust me girl, you wanna be high for this.
I won't be there for this, but I really really hope for you guys that there isn't any soundbleed from other stages during this set.
There's no band on Sunday worth skipping DCD for.
The real Sunday headliner/closer.
If recent set lists and the show I saw last August are any indication, you'll be happy.
In Power We Entrust The Love Advocated is my favorite song of theirs.. a little biased though because its in one of my favorite surf films haha. enjoy!
three more days the anticipation is killing me!
so pumped for this set
Hell yes! Fuck the Chili Peppers and Eric Pyrdz....DCD is closing out the Mojave Sunday night....the REAL headliner of that day. So excited!
DCD vs. Disclosure. Hmm...
northside groove...southside groove....eastside groove...westside groove
Just listen to Aion and Into the Labyrinth.
Easily the best news for me about an otherwise tough schedule. Strategic thinking says that by the end of '13 Coachella, the proper wrap is listening to Lisa Gerrard's and Brendan Perry's voices fill the night air.
Tycho| Coachella 2013| Austin Psych Fest| Psycho de Mayo| Tame Impala| Black Rebel Motorcycle Club| Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers| David Byrne & St Vincent| Capitol Hill Block Party| Godspeed You! Black Emperor| Godspeed You! Black Emperor| Devotchka| The National| FYF Fest
I can see why people would consider them cheesy world/ethno music, specially some of their later stuff. But you might enjoy their debut album. It doesn't have much of the ethnic elements they'd use later and you can get a feeling for those dark sounds they tried to get in their next albums.
A fan or not, it's very hard to deny The Host of Seraphim isn't a gorgeous song. Hearing that song at Coachella with all lights turned off in the tent and that Godspeed eerie vibe from last year would be the perfect end to the weekend.
