I was able to catch her at Make Music in Pasadena & was NOT impressed at all, but I blame it on the sound system.
With that being said I AM SUPER EXCITED FOR HER COACHELLA SET!
One of my biggest goals in life is to fuck her. Oh, and her music is awesome. Can't wait to catch her set!
Probably will be a lot of Grimish girls in the crowd you can settle for.
All you really need to do is print out this post and show it to her. Her knees will buckle and her camouflage jacket will grow dragon wings and fly away, her levi 501 buttons bursting as she squirts bodily fluids in a stream 7.8 feet long and 3 feet wide circumnavigating your genital region and mouth. Fail proof.
this is going to be comically bad...20,000 hipsters watching a quirky canadian girl, mumble gibberish and slam dance behind a casio... 95 degrees at 4PM, with a 90% chance of Zoey Deschenel attendence

Grimes sings like deaf people talk.
Bunglefubly killin' it
I posted this also in the "Educate us on 2013 artists" thread
GRIMES (real name Claire Boucher) is a 25 year old Canadian artist that can best be described as a hybrid of Bjork/Aphex Twin/Mariah Carey. She has 3 albums to her name and it is her 3rd release 'Visions' that has really put her on the map and which many consider to be one of the top albums of 2012. 'Visions' is her most accessible and pop sounding album and contains the ubiquitous single 'Oblivion'. Anyone unfamiliar with her music and looking to check her out should definitely pick up 'Visions' as I imagine most of her set will be culled from this album. Interestingly, I think I remember reading somewhere that she recorded 'Visons' during a self-imposed weeklong isolation whilst consuming vast quantities of Speed.
Her other two albums are also very good (her 2nd album 'Halfaxa' is my favorite) but fall more on the experimental electronic side where one can hear the influence of Aphex Twin with her prominent use of schizophrenic drum beats. Her live performances are similar to TUNE-YARDS in that she will loop beats, melodies, and her voice on the fly and create a sonic soundscape. However her music is much more ethereal and danceable in comparison to TUNE-YARDS spastic sound which I find quite grating and annoying. I can see GRIMES occupying the same outdoor stage time that TUNE-YARDS did in 2012.
This is my favorite song of her new album:
Favorite song of second album:
Really cool performance from a Seattle public radio/tv show:

No way will she be in the gobi or during the day at all. She is far too popular. Mojave sunset or later.
What you are correct about is the dance party part. I did not like Grimes at all, until I went to go see her with my wife. She absolutely killed it. This was a couple days before Visions came out. I then saw her a couple months ago again and she was even better. I am very excited for her Coachella set.
Long time lurker, first time poster. Where does her name come from? I know a name is trivial, but up until now it's kept me from getting into her because it's such a gross name, especially since she's a hot Canadian that make beautiful ambient music. Now I have seen the light.
my wife is coming for first time and Grimes will be near the top of her list im sure. I wanna see her too, she had to cancel her show here when she got sick
Grimes is probably my number one, must-see act on Sunday. I'm hoping for a night set in the Mojave!
Upcoming Concerts:
4/16-Crystal Castles @ The Beacham/Orlando, FL
4/19-4/21- COACHELLA
5/3- Matt & Kim @ Northcote Social Club/Northcote, VIC, Australia
6/20- Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra @ The Forum Theatre/Melbourne, VIC, Australia
I'm gonna be the debby downer and say she's alright. I'm not sure why Pitchfork has got such a hard on for her... oh wait...
her, victoria from beach house, all the hot girls that are gonna be at the XX, seems like a good year for me.
Yeah someone asked if her name was in reference to Ken Grimes because she has an alien tattoo on her hand. She responded saying something like "yes you are the first person to catch the reference".
Until then I just figured it was something in Dune
