I heard Lou Reed didn't want to play in the timeslot they gave him
I was crushed, angry and annoyed at first when I heard he cancelled, but looking at the entire line up and reminding myself of all the other great acts playing, I am okay with it and I will catch him another time.
He wasn't on my list of must sees, but I was still going to watch him perform.
He was one of those artist that was going to require a back up plan in case he started to suck. My research in preparation to this year's festival told me that I would indeed need a back up plan for him.
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
Last California gig was 2006 and last proper US tour was 2003.
Rarity was a big reason why many of us were excited to see him on the lineup. Way more than half of the people that would've attended his sets at Coachella will now NEVER see him live.
How about just giving the Yeah Yeah Yeah's a longer set on the outdoor when they close it out friday night, that would make my whole weekend better!
Wouldn't have missed it if Lou had shown for the world, but was willing to bet even money his set would end up being worst of the entire weekend.
In the end Friday is so stacked, there's no shortage of wonderful alternatives. If he had been scheduled Sunday night, would've been a different story.
Lou had a liver transplant.
Explains Coachella, obviously. Hope he has a full recovery.
Lou Reed really likes Kanye:
Lou Reed + Metalica = Music for the Deaf
Sad news: Rolling Stone is reporting that Lou Reed has died. RIP.
