Yeah! He was out in the smoking area. I also talked to Worthy too, because I got there early for the free vodka bar and they were all just hanging out by the booth. That was suchhhh a fun show. I was kinda bummed I missed J Phlip though, she was supposed to go on at 2 and hadn't gone on yet by 2:45 when I left. I had been there since 9, dancing my ass off, and I was just too tired to stay.

I spoke with my friend who works at the agency that does bookings for Dirtybird yesterday. He said the following when I asked "So dirty bird at Coachella not happening ?"

    "Not that I know
Maybe a couple at do lab
    Noone big tho
    Or Heineken dome"

As for their quarterly party at the Mezzanine for bay area people- they are looking to make that into a monthly

Yeah we got there at 9:30, still not many people there. I got a pic with Justin and said what's up and talked to him a little but he was djing so I didn't want to bother him too much. Requested he drop "Ghettos and Gardens," he said "maybe" and never did haha.

Eh, RA loves Eats Everything so I'm not sure if your point holds. He's big... but if there is going to be a dirtybird curated stage I'd see why he wouldn't be on the poster, because he could be a big selling point for that stage. He has been getting real big real fast lately. His set at Public Works before Thanksgiving was great.

Good. That shit gets so crowded, and you don't have a hope of getting in unless you get there before 10:30.

All of his sets are great. He's legitimately someone Coachella should be trying to book as a compelling EDM get. Locodice/Troxler/Jamie Jones? Completely uninspired mehs.

Would you rather have Afrojack, David Guetta, etc.?

Come on, dude. You know the answer to that is no. What I am saying isn't that I wouldn't/won't enjoy the sets of those artists, it's just a continued trend that GV doesn't and hasn't for a while booked an impressive or forward thinking Sahara lineup in a while. And to pretend otherwise is silly.

This lineup is loads better than it's been in the past few years. Hopefully it's a step in the right direction, and they will start being a bit more forward thinking in the upcoming years.

    I agree with you.

IMO this year is a huge improvement, but they still need to step it up.

My friend summed up the bookings for coachella's deeper side of electronic as just "an insomniac techno stage" and lazy...i'd say that's sorta accurate with the exceptions of a few, but it's still an improvement over last year's sahara obviously

I'd like to make sure I follow:

    1) Eats Everything is popular
    2) He would be a big "selling point" for the hypothetical Dirtybird-curated stage, which is theoretically a stage at Coachella.
    3) People will have to buy a Coachella ticket to see this hypothetical Dirtybird stage.
    4) Eats Everything is not on the poster which lists the acts that are playing at Coachella.
    5) Leaving him off of the poster benefits the Dirtybird stage because ____________________.

I just hope they realize how many people are going to trying to see their shows...could be the best stage of the weekend.

Well, if he is going, he's either going to be at Do Lab or the theoretical dirtybird stage, obviously. If not, then he won't be there, because he's not on the poster. And for both of those stages, you don't want them to be empty like the dome was in '11. So it makes sense to me. He's a huge rising star right now. And it's not like Coachella needs incentive for people to buy tickets, it's going to sell out. So why not put him on the theoretical dirtybird stage...
Which looks increasingly like it's not going to happen, so it's probably a moot point anyway.

I trusted NickO a lot more than this guy but he seems pretty legit. Pretty in the know.

Um, I've never claimed to provide insider info. My only claim is fabulous taste in everything and scathing commentary on everyone else's inferiority.

    2009 was the best
    2010 was the worst
    2011 gave us Lee Burridge
2012 was much needed due to the lack of quality dance music in the Sahara
Coachella 07 (the introduction), 08 (the bands), 09 (the documentary), 10 (the people i came with), 11 (the relationship test... we passed), 12 (whatever the weather, Dirty Epic forever), 13 (the year of the troll)
