Morrissey Hospitalized, Postpones Tour Dates
Posted: January 26, 2013
Singer Morrissey has been hospitalized in Michigan in the course of his latest tour, forcing the 55-year-old former Smiths frontman to postpone some tour dates as he recovers.
Morrissey was hospitalized in Detroit on Friday, after the previous cancellation of his scheduled Thursday show in the area. The singer had already canceled the original show at the Whiting in Flint in the fall after taking time off to care for his mother while she was ill.
Morrissey’s hospitalization in Michigan necessitated a second cancellation at the Whiting, and as of now, it’s not clear whether that date will be made up.
Music mag Billboard confirmed that Morrissey had been hospitalized for what is believed to be a bladder infection, and that the singer has canceled the two dates scheduled after the Michigan show — including one in Chicago.
The site explains:
“Morrissey has been hospitalized in Royal Oak, Mich … According to a rep for the singer, he was admitted to the William Beaumont hospital, ‘where he is undergoing tests for a suspected bladder infection.’ “
The Michigan cancellation happened before Morrissey was hospitalized, and is said to have been due to a “band illness.”
A notice posted on site True To You, A Morrissey Zine, confirmed which dates had been canceled after Morrissey’s illness, and notes:
“Morrissey’s concert tonight, January 24, in Flint, MI has been cancelled and subsequent performances in Minneapolis (1/25) and Chicago (1/26) are currently being postponed due to band illness. Those who have already purchased tickets for tonight’s show in Flint will be refunded their full ticket price. Those who have already purchased tickets for performances in Minneapolis and Chicago are highly encouraged to hold on to their tickets and look out for rescheduled dates. The tour will resume Monday, January 28 in Asheville, NC.”
The statement continues:
“Morrissey would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience and wishes his band a speedy recovery!”
Reps did not disclose whether Morrissey had been released from the hospital, or whether fans who happened to be in Las Vegas for CES when he visited New York might get to see him at any point in the next year.

I hope a nurse rubs bacon all over him while he sleeps. Fuck, I'd do it if I was closer.
