    Default interpol return to studio

i try not to get excited when bands i love make new material, since it's so hard for most bands to live up to fans' inflated expectations, but here's hoping:

    from their myspace bulletin:

    Cherished Interpudlians

It's been a long time. We shouldn't have left you...

After the touring for OLTA came to an end, we all dispersed to tend to our individual personal lives.
...And to get our ducks in a row.

Now the band has reconvened, and we are rehearsing new songs.

We find ourselves marveling at the tremendous focus
that has defined our early rehearsals for this, our 4th effort.

All kidding aside, we feel like a new band.

Once again, we have no concept to this batch of song-writing.
(We are often asked about our intentions when we set out to write music.)
There is rarely any intention to this process.
    We just make the music.

And without going into too much detail, the songs sound vital.

It's as though we've hit upon a balance between our urgency and
our calm. And true to our better work, this is music that unravels over time.

We anticipate that, once it's done, you high-minded folks will welcome the music...into your bedrooms...to swagger and breathe...

It's still early, yet, though. We will keep you posted.

In the meantime, a couple of us have kept ourselves busy with extra-curricular activities. Carlos has made a film called My Friends Told Me About You and Sam has released a record with his band Magnetic Morning.

And we hope that you're all weathering well the turmoil of the age.

    Lovingly,

    Interpol

^^ if you are basing this on their last album then i share your pessimism. but if you just don't like em in general then you are an ass hat.

    or maybe not.

Pioneer to the Falls was sooo promising though...the rest of the album was crap outside of a few singles...but even then, Carlos D has said it was time for them to do their Kid A or Amnesiac after Our Love To Admire...

Dude, Jack Johnson and the Killers are headliners. ANY band that's had a modicum of critical acclaim and sold more than a million records over the course of their career can feasibly be a headliner now.

I like interpol but except for like 3 songs, their last cd sucked. And it was really hyped up too. I hope they come up with something good this time.

Our Love To Admire is better than most of their contemporaries' second or third releases. It isn't great as a stand-alone record, but it's difficult to improve upon TOTBL or Antics. That being said, count me as stoked to hear some new material from the Interpol camp.
    Upcoming Shows:
    * Dillon Francis + Anamanaguchi -- December 28th

Going to Weekend 1 of Coachella 2014
