This will be the first year I will not work for at least part of the year (by choice as you know). Thus the last 9 months has been nothing but a total trash a la Peter O' Toole. I'm not saying bye bye to everything, just to booze at least for now. Day in a life. Next to that little item, I need to get out more. I have everything I need within my place, but it gets blah. Doing some refinements on my resolutions.
-Read 30 books over the year, with a goal of 2 a month plus a short story (or two depending on length) a day from a collection until I finish that collection.
-Watch 100 Criterion films by year's end. Re-visiting films I've seen once before counts as most great films don't even sink in until at least a second viewing.
-For the month of January, home cook from scratch one meal a week. February, two per week. And so on until I'm up to at least five. And try to keep them fairly healthy and include at least one veggie that isn't a potato.
-Walk or some other kind of exercise for 30min to an hour every two days at minimum, but hopefully at least every day.
-Set out 3 household chores to be completed each week.
For 2013 I will stop living in sin.

1 - I've been working on refining different versions of my resume for different positions and drafting cover letters.
2 - Still need to sign up for the next class series. It starts on January 23.
3 - I have registered for 3 races to help ramp up for this goal and keep me honest: the March Forth 5K on 3/3, the Beat the Bridge 8K on 5/19, and finally the Lake Union 10K on 8/7.
4 - I have actually packed my lunch every single day so far this week, and already have things boxed and ready to go in my fridge for Thursday and Friday. Yay.
5 - I finished two small books this week, but I'm not sure if I should count them because they're not really serious books. I'm still working on Too Big To Fail as my nighttime reading.

I ate January's flavors from Kyotofu; cinnamon was fantastic and I would like some more. Sweet almond was either too subtle or just bland.
I finished Manon and watched the first acts of Giulio Cesare and Rigoletto. And also picked out another bunch of books and records to get rid of.
I've never done this before, but I have been spending time reflecting on the actions I've been taking with regards to my 2013 goals.
I'm walking more days than not, I've asked the wife for upcoming due dates on the credit card, told the guy who cuts my hair that I wanna go long, haven't even thought about booking a massage, I'm 25 pages into a book called complete guide to executive manners (but may not make it all the way through), and we just upgraded the main application that I work with. Not going to count that one though.
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
I have been working really ridiculously hard on #1. I had a first and second round interview on this past Thursday and Friday, and a first round for a different company on Monday. I've also been networking my butt of and doing a lot of informational interviews with folks at my target companies. I'm hoping this will all pay off soon and I'll be able to check the internship thing off on my list by March.
I decided I needed to re-prioritize the 6am yoga classes considering that I'm not getting enough sleep. I am going to delay resolution #2 until the internship search is finished and I have more time.
My first step towards #3 is running a 5K on March 5. I've been working towards this, and got this super awesome GPS/heart rate monitor thing which is fantastic because it gives me a live read as to my pace per mile as I run.
I have been just barely squeaking by on #4 because things have been so hectic, but I HAVE done it, even though a lot of the lunches I'm packing are just leftovers or something like that not terribly complex. I want to work on using more fresh vegetables instead of having everything in soup or stew form, but I am definitely saving money no matter which way I go, so that's good.
The book thing that is resolution #5 has been no problem. I have been reading a lot of company-specific books by CEOs and whatnot in preparation for internship interviews.
