    4. Try out the gym and/or yoga.
    5. 10+ visits to The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

And various things I don't know how to or want to devise metrics for such as decluttering, paring down physical books and CDs, hanging up art and light-up letters, doing slow-cooker or big pot cooking several times a month and watching more opera.
We did a second order from Aru so we are at 4/31 there.

I have only gone on two walks but with the weather and a couple sick days I am OK with that. I expect to do most of my walking in the spring and summer.

I bought a Groupon (or whatever) for a $9 month at the Bally's right around the corner but I have not gone in to start that month yet. I am planning for the second half of February.

No other progress on the listed items though I did learn that in March 15 through April 20 Pace Gallery is having a James Turrell show in advance of the exhibit at the Guggenheim this summer so that is another specific, time-limited time I will wish to go to a museum.

I saw Maria Stuarda at the Met and watch some more Donizetti. I made caramelized onions in the slow cooker and right now am soaking some black beans which will cook tomorrow, making a lot of leftovers.

I am happy with my progress!

This is awesome and I may be slightly jealous.

Also yay to the rest of your progress!

    Updates -
I haven't lost any weight yet but haven't gained either. Tomorrow I start a new workout and food regimen that I hope will get me there!
I bought a great book on Transcendental Meditation and I'm learning the basics. It's amazing how much you need to know about the background of these techniques before you even try them out.
No cash savings account yet, but I'm keeping up my RSP payments (it's like 401k)
I haven't purged any old stuff yet. Need to take a day or two and get it done!

    Progress update

    1. 6/31. This will be easy.
    2. Went last night, trying Matcha and White Sesame (they went very well together) so complete thus far.
    3. Only at 4/50 but the weather will start getting better eventually. And we went for a walk around after the near-blizzard (see photos in the Nemo thread).
    4. I went to Bally Total Fitness and am getting ready to go several times a week. After my Groupon month ends I can continue for cheaper than normal, too.
    5. Still 0/10. Like #3 this will be easier when it is warmer.
    6. Still 1/10 but have plans for several visits.
    7. Summer and/or vacation.
    8. Yeah, yeah.
    9. A few! Gah.

    1. COMPLETED
    2. Delayed pending spring quarter scheduling
    3. Ran a 5K race today. Well on my way to doing a 10K at a reasonable pace.
    4. I have been slacking on packing my lunch. Need to get better at this.
    5. I'm one book ahead of schedule -- currently at 5 books read for 2013.

I just made new resolutions because the ones I had listed earlier this year sucked.

    1) end extremely unhappy relationship - check
    2) start Spanish lessons - check
    3) find happiness with my current weight - check
    4) do whatever the fuck I want that makes me happy and not worry so much about pleasing everyone else- check.

There. This list is much better.

    1. 22/31. Was doing well; have been out of town a lot recently. Might still make it.
    2. They closed down.
    3. I have done poorly. Not going to make it.
    4. Done. Went a couple times a week for a while but have lost steam with foster kittens, traveling and sickness. Plan to start going regularly again.
    5. Still 0/10. May not make it at all this year. Will try for a more modest number of visits for next year.
    6. 6/8, unless I'm forgetting another. Not bad. Might make it.
    7. Pacific Ocean, off of Costa Rica (see below).
    8. Mostly done! Done for almost all government and many other organizations.
    9. A few! Gah.

Yes, mja. We both took a new name. It ended up being from an online username she has used for ages. We also considered McCabe.

But anyway I just realized that I completed my 6th resolution! On my birthday we visited The Cloisters. I went to hear Janet Cardiff's 40 Part Motet, I stayed for the creepy medieval art. The former is a reworking/presentation of Tallis' "Spem in Alium", with the 40 parts recorded separately and played through 40 speakers set up in a round. It's a gorgeous piece of music anyway; this allowed them to play it over and over (without having to have 40 singers working all day).

The Cloisters itself is a modern building built like a medieval abbey and is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, though it is further north. I don't like medieval paintings and I am horrified every time I remember what a reliquary actually is so that part didn't go so well. My favorite item was an actual piece of sheet music from that era, though I don't recall the piece/composer. The Hunt of the Unicorn was kind of cool. There were some later paintings that stuck out like a sore thumb such as some later Dutch pieces. (This happened at the next place too; I was a little bored by the Italian/Christian/Medieval/Renaissance art but then perked right up when I started to see Dutch Golden Age stuff).

Then on the day after the solstice we visited the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, FL. We only had time to see part of the main building and the rose garden. The main building started with five gigantic canvases by Rubens and then went on to a good amount of paintings by mostly Italian artists from the 15th and 16th centuries such as Titian. It then transitioned to Dutch Golden Age paintings by Rembrandt, Hals and more. The other wing was Spanish art but we didn't make it. The main purpose of the visit was to see Joseph's Coat, a James Turrell skyspace. It is a large room with a 24' x 24' hole cut out of the ceiling. Around sunset computer controlled lights are projected on what is left of the white ceiling completely changing your perception of the sky. My favorite may have been the nice deep green which made the sky look purple. Even beyond color, the sharpness of what we were seeing changed. I watched lying on the ground in the middle of the viewing area and almost jumped up when the first star appeared. It was lovely and amazing and peaceful and I really want to go again (and again).

This is an interesting/amusing take on the experience from a local magazine. (Note that the author first visits the room in the early afternoon when no light show is going on). I also saw far less red than he suggests. And at one point a member of the staff came in and said that the light show had been going on for about 12 minutes, turn off your electronic devices like you were asked to earlier. It starts very slowly, very gently, with the light shifting imperceptibly towards pink, leading up to the sunset.

Whew! I was scrolling through the posts quickly and thought I read that Aru Sushi was shutting down in your 11/24/2013 post. It was Kyotofu that shut down though. Whew! I've been to Aru Sushi once since your original resolution posting and plan on going back next time I'm in NYC.
