I haven't seen an act in the Sahara since 2010. That tent is dead.

2011 actually had a respectable dance lineup. Hopefully they at least give us SOME quality this year.

I didn't go in 2011; however, if I HAD gone, I would have seen Shpongle. And if Leftfield was in there, I'd have seen that too. *le sigh*

Probably because there was better edm when there was an extra tent(ish) in 2011.

2009 was my first Coachella and the Sahara blew my mind. A lot of fun stuff that year. 2010 was good but I haven't really seen anything exciting since. I'm really hoping GV can revive the tent. There's plenty of talent out there to make it great again

Sasha (sahara) > Chem's (main stage) in 2011 was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. Every now in then I'll pull up some vids on youtube and relive that night.

Don't know how to feel about Bentley's announcement. Excited for a new stage an whatnot, but wooden floors and air conditioning just doesn't seem to be in the Coachella spirit

There's still so many more acts on the lineup in total this year, though, but the confirmation that this is a stage specifically for DJs seems to suggest that there's only a limited number of acts that will play there. Unless, of course, it is somewhat like the Heinekin Dome and names are added later.

size and location will make or break this idea. but I love it. stick it in a corner far from the action and make sure it's not a "cool down/I was just walking by" area for people, such as the do lab.

It's possible. There are surely acts that will play in the Gobi for like ~ 30-35 minutes. And by extended sets I really mean like 1.5 - 2 hours for some of these DJs -- which is more than they would get playing in the Sahara in the afternoon, ya know?
