hey i was wondering who was your favorite new band you discovered? there are so many new bands at coachella for me, i just wanted your opinion. my favorite new band is cocorosie.
THE FRATELLIS AND THE CRIBS!
since the coachella player was launched,
Felix the Housecat
(been around for a minute but i just never really listen to him)
(seen them open for Elefant last year, ever since then they started getting played on the radio and now are blowing up)
JAMC is another band ive just recently started listening to, if it wasnt for Coachella and all the people posting on how good they are I probaly would of never known of them.
Explosions in the Sky
Alright... I regret the screen name.
Explosions in the Sky is one I grew to love over the last year or so. Most recently, the new band (to me) that i'm giddy over is TGTBATQ, but I guess that's kinda cheating, so I'll go with Gotan Project. Really though, there are so many that are new to me, it's ridiculous. Liking so many bands on the bill is a curse as much as it is awesome. Conflicts Conflicts Conflicts!
Upcoming: 04/11/14-04/13/14 - Coachella Weekend One; 04/18/14-04/20/14 - Coachella Weekend Two; 08/19/14 - NIN/Soundgarden (Isleta Amphitheater - Albuquerque, NM)
Explosions and Silversuns are my two new favs....can't wait to check 'em out this year
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.
LCD Soundsystem and Infected Mushroom
not exactly new, but they're new to me. Love em both.
yeah Infected Mushroom for me too, I've heard of them before Coachella, but I forced myself to listen to them and they really grew on me.
On first listen I thought, "Uh oh, not another guy who sounds like Aesop Rock/Sage Francis/Atmosphere." But, after giving the record (Roadkill Overcoat) a few spins, I realized that Busdriver is definitely doing his own thing.
I'm goin', goin', back, back, to Cali, Cali!
Silversun Pickups and Tokyo Police Club!
Gogol Bordello is not to be missed. I've seen them 4 or 5 times and they never dissappoint. In Eugene's own words, "We come rough, everytime."
In terms of debut acts, definitely The Kooks, since I have trouble tearing myself away from Inside In/Inside Out, it's just that damn good.
Since I got my tickets for the event, I'd suppose that my favorite acts (that I've discovered) are Faithless, Placebo, Lupe Fiasco, Jarvis Cocker, Tilly and the Wall, Infected Mushroom, Air and Happy Mondays.
I'm STILL trying to figure out EITS, TGTBTQ, !!! and Hot Chip
I got into Air last fall because I knew I liked the sound of a couple of their songs that I'd heard, so I bought a couple full albums. It was just incredible luck that they got booked for Coachella, so now I can see them live when my fever for them is at its highest. I'm also digging Faithless quite a bit.
Silversun Pickups and The Prairie Cartel
acts at coachella anyway
Peter Bjorn & John, LCD Soundsystem and Menomena, but that last one ain't playing.
My favorite new band is The Black Angels....but they are playing Bonnaroo.
Favorite band that I have just become familiar with playing at Coachella would have to be The Black Keys.
I felt like I'd just watched something culturally significant. Actually, Nirvana came to mind. I hope this is Arcade Fire's coming out party.
It's between these three:
Explosions In The Sky, Kaiser Chiefs and The Black Keys
klaxons and mute math.
isis and !!!
Cornelius and Gogol Bordello so far.
crowded house, vnv nation and lilly allen
