    Default Voodoo Fest 2013

I haven't been back to this festival for a few years, but since they've added camping and it's still in N'awlins, it's worth considering for $99 for the whole weekend. This is a limited time price, so if you're on the fence, now's the time to act. Be forewarned, though.... Green Day may headline to make up for missing the fest this year!

Not surprised to hear the news today. PJ and NIN top off a fairly decent looking lineup

I think I'm going to do this instead of OSL, and the VIP sounds pretty fucking awesome.

There will definitely be adds, there aren't only 15 bands at the festival.

I would pencil in Gary Numan as a near lock, if he's playing that North Carolina festival in late October. He's friends with Trent Reznor (played a few songs with him at the Palladium farewall tour show), I don't see any reason he wouldn't get a slot at Voodoo with Trent and his wife's bands both playing.

This initial lineup sucks. I mean PJ and NIN are cool but wow.

@ TomServo - Thanks for the answer. Hotels are gonna be easy to get to and from the City Park?

@ Ods - Dunno.... line-up looks good. Bassnectar and NIN for me.

Anything on Canal street, in the French quarter, or the CBD let's you use the street car for $1.25 each way. It stops at the festival entrance and the wait is short. Perfect way to voodoo. It's what we always do.

how does coachella have such a shitty main page compared to some of these festivals?

hmm, always wanted to go to nawlins... is that the full lineup or do they get undercards?

    a) how the hell is that 3 days?
    b) NIN HTDA same fest, plus desaparacidos? hmmmm

^From what I gather they are gonna be announcing another headliner and a few other undercards. This line-up is sooooo much greater than Coachella. Thinkin there will be less spoiled and priviledged hipster brats aswell, which kills my buzz. Never been to the Big Easy either. I am ready!

So far, I'm only into NIN/HTDA, but NIN is practically my favorite band, so that is a big deal for me. I will be staying with a friend, but I still have to save up money for a ticket and airfare before I decide.

That's nowhere near the whole lineup, it's just the "First 15". They're probably just gauging interest based on ticket sales before they grab another major act or two, and trying to get people talking about the fest.

Here's the Wiki, which has all the past lineups: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voodoo_...ce#2012_Lineup

The festival was acquired by a major electronic music promoter, so there may not be another major mainstream act... but they've traditionally had a big hip-hop act or two and a whole stack of funk/jazz/non-traditional acts as well.

A few years ago we had a blast catching KISS, Eminem, Lenny Kravitz, Jane's Addiction, Flaming Lips, Wolfmother, Black Keys, Gogol Bordello, Janelle Monae, Silversun Pickups, Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Fischerspooner. There were others, but that's a good example of the breadth of the festival when it's booked right. You get a little bit of everything, the tickets are cheap, and you're in New Orleans. Who wouldn't go?

for everyone who has no idea who is at this festival (copied and pasted from their site, so sorry for the weird formatting)

PEARL JAM •NINE INCH NAILS CALVIN HARRIS •BASSNECTAR •PARAMORE
MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS •AFROJACK BOYS NOIZE •THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM BIG GIGANTIC •HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS CULTS •ALKALINE TRIO •DESAPARECIDOS ROBERT DELONG

Yeah. Paramore is there. So is Macklemore. If you were wondering where Afrojack and Alkaline Trio were at... well they're kicking it with Calvin Harris and Bassnectar on one of the weirdest initial lineups I've ever seen.

I've always wanted to go to this festival but the lineups always seem disappointing aside from the headliners. Same can be said for this year.

Argh that other fest is stealing this fest's thunder. Who is booking bands for this? Because s/he's kind of an idiot.

Didnt every fest steal Coachellas thunder? And wait til acl announces. Then we will hear crying and whining about not wanting to go to texas.

No no Voodoo's thunder, not Coachella's thunder. Coachella was damn near perfect this year for me.

Honestly, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam and Hot to Destroy Angels are enough for me. Keeps the days free to explore New Orleans all proper like. I'm thinking of making a week out of this. Starting in Ashville with Moog then getting to the Big Easy a few days early, then halloween and finally Voodoo. I'm getting excited about this.

If only Pearl Jam were at Mountain Oasis instead of Bassnectar/Pretty Lights.
    Upcoming Shows:
    Kasabian/Bo Ningen: 10/1 @ Metro
Coachella: 4/10-12 @ Empire Polo Fields

Yeah for $175 for a 3 days pass you can totally just walk in later at night if the undercard sucks and it'll be worth it.
