Your dreams are never silly; depend on them to guide you.
The only recommendation I have is to bring a cooler full of food that can withstand the heat (sandwich nonsense, beef jerky, large jug of water, certain fruits, cereal, etc.) and full of ice. Every year I go we all eat a big breakfast before the show and a big meal when we get back that night. It kept us from having to spend a bunch of money inside the venue every year, plus I know quite a few people who got sick from eating some of that gnarly festival food. That's not the most helpful response in the world. Oh well.
I would advise doing what I just did and buy a couple Under Armour Heat Gear t-shirts.

"Every year I go we all eat a big breakfast before the show and a big meal when we get back that night."
So did you guys just eat sandwiches, cereal and beef-jerky last time?
How did you prepare your meals?
I'm going to try and sneak my backpacking stove in.

Yeah, I mean that was a simplistic example I gave you, but anything that will fill your stomach for awhile and doesn't need to be cooked has always been my choice. If you're camping you could always do hotdogs or whatever over a pit or in a hotel you might be able to microwave shit, so that's good too. I, on the other hand tend to stay in the cheapest campsites possible and you just sort of deal with what you have. It's just nice to have fruit or something before going in and eating nothing but churros (fucking delicious churros), frozen lemonades and grilledwhateverthefucks. 2 days you might be ok, but eating nothing but shit for 3 days might kick your ass. Or just get so drunk that it doesn't matter.

I think I'll be hitting up the surplus shops and getting a couple of those military MRE's - Meals ready to eat, not sure I think you may need hot water but I'm sure you can scam them somewhere.
Recent studies at Yale have shown that being an asshole is detrimental to one's health. Professor Sweetlove, a Psychology professor, came on record as saying:
"Assholes and local desert rats tend to live shorter lives and have less consensual sexual relations than non assholes. It could be due to lower testoserone levels or a chemical imbalance in the brain but some people are just wired to be.... well.... assholes"
